True, but they're astonishingly cheap. He's the lowest paid coach and in the end they probably won't offer him much more than the highest paid coordinators in the league.

I know they are cheap but nothing kills a fan base worse than letting a SB coach walk. Oh wait............ JJ &JJ never mind.:D
seriously though, they paid him according to worth. He has proved himself, I wouldn't mind operating that way. I bet he gets his money. We shall see.

Lovie Smith is not coming to Dallas. We might as well brace ourselves for Norv or Wade Phillips. ESPN reported Jerry is looking to give the new HC a 2 year contract. I think those are the only guys that would come here with a 2 year contract. Hope I am wrong. It seems like Jerry is placing the franchises hopes on a man who has only been a quarterback coach for 2 years. Scary if he doesn't pan out.

ESPN didn't report that Jerry is looking for a 2 year contract. It was just speculation by Werder.

Hopefully it's just speculation then.

Just to throw something different out there...

The best coach may not be the best fit. Surely everyone knows that by now. Rivera may be a better candidate. He may have more skins on the wall, and it still wouldn't necessarily make him a better candidate. Generally, I still believe in the best man getting the job. I just think that the Cowboys job is a little different animal than some other jobs...

there is like 600 guys who can take this team to the SB...........:D

Stay on the Rivera bandwagon - whats wrong with having 2 young up and coming coaches on the staff (Rivera and Garrett) , and why be in a hurry to move Garrett to HC when he needs to really put a stamp on the offense and get it settled/keep it moving in a positive direction.

I also think that Rivera would be in favor of someone like JG running his offense as he currently is familiar with Ron Turner's work with the bears.

-- another thing about Rivera, yes he is currently coaching a variation of the tampa 2, but look at his mentors -- Buddy Ryan, Dave Wannstadt, June Jones and Lovie Smith, I'm sure he can find out a defensive strategy to get the best out of our guys.
