Official: 4 Playoff Scenarios Left

That could happen but I don't see how GB beats Arizona because the Packers don't have anything to play for at this point. I guess the only thing really would be to get a 5 seed instead of a 6 seed if it is that important to them. I just see the Packers playing backups after the 1st quarter or 1st half.

5 versus 6 seed is still a big deal. It gives an inside track, meaning that you avoid the top seed until the last possible game, if the 1 seed makes it there.

The Vikings look like garbage right now. I would love to play them in the opening round if we don't get the bye.

Interesting that our last playoff victory was against the Vikings in 1996. They are ripe to help us break the drought.

If we get the bye ... and if Minnesota wins their first round game ... we'll host them in Dallas. So whether we win or lose this Sunday Minnesota could be our first playoff game.

Interesting that no matter what, if Giants win, we're not playing Philly in the first round of the playoffs.

Amazing what a difference a few games make because it looked all but certain we were headed toward playing Philly back to back, now it looks like its a 25% chance at most.

Personally I'd love the miracle to happen and we get the #2 seat and then Philly gets knocked out so we don't have to play them three times

Yeah, that's a good point. I just saw that in another thread.

All things being equal, I think GB is the better team, but--especially if they could end up playing AZ again--I don't see them putting together anything more than a vanilla game plan. One thing in our favor, oddly enough, is that the game's in AZ where the Cards haven't been as competitive this year.

So... If we get the bye, Philly and GB would have the same record. Who would go to Minn and who would go to Zona? If anyone knew off hand.

It'd be Philly @ Minn and Green Bay @ AZ.

I think Philly wins that and we would play the winner of GB/AZ. That has to be the perfect scenario.

I'm not gonna hold my breathe for either NY or the Packers helping us.

I want the Pack in Dallas. That's my dream game. Although I'd also like to see them ruin the other side of the bracket so we can eventually get them at home in the NFC Champ game.

Different way of getting to the same conclusion -- possible scenarios:

1.
Cowboys win.
Giants win.
Cardinals win.

Result: Dallas hosts Green Bay.

2.
Cowboys win.
Giants lose.
Cardinals win.

Result: Dallas hosts Philly.

3.
Cowboys win.
Giants lose.
Cardinals lose.

Result: Dallas hosts Philly.

4.
Cowboys win.
Giants win.
Cardinals lose.

Result: Dallas gets a bye.

5.
Cowboys lose.
Giants win.
Cardinals win.

Result: Cardinal host Dallas.

6.
Cowboys lose.
Giants lose.
Cardinals win.

Result: Vikings host Dallas.

7.
Cowboys lose.
Giants lose.
Cardinals lose.

Result: Vikings host Dallas.

8.
Cowboys lose.
Giants win.
Cardinals lose.

Result: Vikings host Dallas.

So scenario 1-5 are home games for Dallas. I like it.

Just to make sure I'm reading this right ...

There's no way we play at Philadelphia in the wild card round, right?

at least not without ties. so there is way, but it's highly unlikely

You know I tend to agree. Who's playing better right now, Philly or Vikes? And we are a good road team and it's in a dome and you stay away from a Divisional rival for the third time.

Match up wise I think we could get a lot of pressure on Favre and take shots on their secondary.

I never want to lose...but if we do on Sunday, Minnesota is not a bad place to go.

The NFC playoff teams have impressive win totals.

None of them will have fewer than 10 wins. At least four, and maybe five, of the six playoff teams will have 11 or more wins.

Not too shabby.

I have very little faith that the G-men and Pack are going to step us and give us a bye, especially since both teams are playing road games.

All we can do is just beat the Eagles and let the chips fall where they may. Who knows, maybe a miracle happens and we get the #2 seed.

I believe the g men step up ,but are you guys asking me to root for the gints???

UGH.:shoot6:

If it helps the Boys, I guess I could, seeing that they're out of the playoffs .

But root for the gints?????:abuseme::insane:

So the most undesireable scenario possible IMO of Dallas having to travel to Philly is officially impossible? That's good news.

Yep, looks like if we lose to Philly then we head to Minny in the 1st round.

The only reason for hope is that Coughlin is as old-school as they come and will coach all week in practice as if this were a playoff game and will make sure his team goes out and gives a good effort. Whether or not the team actually goes out on Sunday and does it is another matter.

GB has nothing to gain so Rogers will probably be on the sidelines by the 3rd quarter, if not sooner. So I think the greatest probability of all the games is that Arizona will win their game. So scenarios 3,4, 7 and 8 are highly unlikely.

Giants will give an honest effort but i still have a hard time believing the Vikings wont pull it together and win at home. So the most likely on paper are #2(Dallas hosting Philly) and #6(Dallas going to Minnesota).

I do too, especially with the possibility that they'd be playing Arizona again the following week. They'll play a really vanilla game and as you said, probably treat it as a preseason game. Arizona losing isnt very likely IMO, especially if the Vikings did somehow lose to the Giants. Arizona would be playing for the 2 seed and becomes huge fans of the Cowboys for one day. At worst they'd be a 3 seed if Minny loses and they win.

I actually think scenario 4 is most likely at this point.

Having everything fall in place for us so we get the bye is the "most likely"? :laugh2:
