This is what I've said all along. Not that Garrett is an idiot, a loser, a bumbling fool, or any of the other lame and baseless personal attacks made against other coaches, but that he's incredibly inexperienced and in no way earned this job. He has this job because Jerry and his old wildcatter personality took a shine to his potential many moons ago, not unlike with project players like AOA or Quincy Carter. Sometimes those guys work out and you strike it rich, but oftentimes they're just a dry hole.

Again, call me crazy, but I don't think the Dallas Cowboys is the place for OJT.

I think it's still the bad taste from letting Sean Payton go and then having to watch him win that Super Bowl title. He was looking to catch the same type of lightening in a bottle and just missed bigtime.

I totally agree. Some here are so enamored with JG because so many people said he is smart, and Ozzie Newsome said he could run for the presidency.

Heck who cares. All that tells me is, JG could be a great politician. Just because you have what it takes to be the president, doesn't mean you'll be a great football coach.

I'm actually going to argue the opposite to most of you here right now.

It is quite miraculous that we have put up so many yards despite having a very green OL that has had a lot of injuries as well as injuries to all of our main offensive skill players which is the strength of this offense.

The offense has suffered severely due to the lack of investment in draft picks compared to the defensive side of the ball. There are only two starters here who were first rounders who are starters (Felix is a part-time player) and both were picked in the last two years and are very far away from their prime. All the other guys were developed/scrubs in essence. Yet despite the lack of premium investment and despite the numerous injuries to starters and an inept OL we have fielded an offense that is league average in scoring, above average in yards gained and above average in time of possession. I think this is a testament to the work of the OC.

Now do I think the offense has been great so far - no. Do I see room for improvement - yes. Do I think we can be a great offensive team this year - no. The reason is we lack balance because the OL is inept in run blocking and inept in goalline situations. Until this is corrected we will never be a superior offense.

In the short term our best chance to get better is probably to virtually abandon the running game inside the 10-yard line. We should spread the field from the shotgun and throw the football because we are more likely to be successful in this manner. I think it has been hard for JG to accept this because this is not traditional football and I believe this is not how he wants to proceed due to the higher rate of INTs.

I think we are actually on our way to becoming a very good football team that will contend for the championship year in and year out but we must first fix this OL by whatever means necessary. I cannot blame JG for this - the blame here must go to Jerry Jones for mismanaging the draft and the salary cap as these are the GM's duties.

I'm 100% certain Jason Garrett would have a job as at least an OC next season if we were stupid enough to fire him. We won't fire him, though, because he's doing a very good job.

Blind unwavering faith? That's the only thing I can think of at this point.

Garrett simply has to learn from his mistakes. If not, we're a one win team in the playoffs on a good year.

What is it with you guys and the passive swipes at Hos? Just be a man and say what you're thinking; you're not fooling anybody, and you're not earning points by swiping at our mods.

And you're nuts if you think I base my opinions on the views of others on CZ. Smart posters educate me and change my mind all the time, but they do it with evidence and perspective.

My opinions on JG are based on the fact that he's a good OC and has been for years, he did a great job as interim HC in a touch circumstance. I've been very impressed with his handling of the team the entire offseason. I've heard directly that the organization loves him. It's pretty obvious to me that they play hard for him in every game. He protects the team from the stupid Dallas press. And he's got us pretty much where I expected to be this year after 5 games.

I was especially impressed with the team's play yesterday. I honestly don't know what everybody is so surprised and upset about.

I don't believe he is. I believe he did a poor job at the end of yesterday's game and have no problem saying that. I think overall he is doing a good job. Romo single handedly destroyed two wins, and we are playing with a VERY young offensive line right now. I think this board is very funny in its reaction to all this. That is my honest opinion.

look I didn't like him being so conservative, but I can live with it. I think the guy is learning and will get better and better. No one is perfect and as long as he continues to learn I'll be happy. I'd like to see him hire an OC as I just think it's tough to do both jobs.

I have to change my opinion about some of the play calling after re-watching the series at the goal line. The first down screen to Bennett was a nice play call and was close to being a TD.

I just watched that last series on the goal line again and Romo looked extremely gun shy on that 2nd down play. I think some of the criticism is starting to get to him. He had Dez one-on-one running a fade, Miles running a crossing route across the back of the end zone with single coverage and good protection but he didnt even look for either one of them. He took a quick look at Witten saw he was doubled and tried to force a check down to Choice who was well covered at the 5 yard line. Miles was wide open, if he looks at him as his second option it is an easy TD.

Hard to blame JG when his QB is either not reading the defense well or is a bit gun shy about making a big mistake in the red zone. I will take Dez or Miles in single coverage all game long in the red zone. You have to recognize it and take advantage of the coverage.
