No lower than a second

They have to maximize this asset

I know it was timing but the Eagles got a 1st for what's his name. That dude could put Michael Irvin, Ray Lewis and Warren Sapp to sleep.

No intangibles

Get a first

I think Revis is done. Corners/S, LB and OL can live off rep for years.

Good commentary of Revis

Romo is not going to "choose his next team." He may choose where NOT to go but that is the extent of it.

Hate to disagree with you but, the 3 choices are:
Tony stays with the Cowboys for his current salary.
Jerry releases Tony so he can pick his team as a June 1st cut.
Jerry tries to trade Tony, Tony balks, and retires.

Opinions do vary...I have history on my side.
Jerry will not treat Tony wrong and the most likely path is a release just like with DeMarcus Ware.
Just sayin'.
He won't stay at 14m......if he wants to stay in DAL it will be as a backup for much much less
He won't be released for nothing and no cap relief
He may get traded or he may retire

They have to pay him 14mil if they keep him. If he's a June 1st cut as least
they lessen the cap hit over 2 years. None of the teams close to the playoffs
like Texans, Dolphins, Broncos are likely to give up a nice pick for Tony. Jerry
is probably going to release Tony just like Ware for cap relief. Tony gets to at
least field offers from prospective teams. All teams know that the Cowboys want
to get something for Tony and none of them will likely bite.

DAL doesn't get cap relief from cutting Romo

You are correct in 19.6mil is the cap hit but, they can take it over 2 years rather than 1 if he is designated
a June 1st cut. I know you know that.

is he really considering that idea that Romo could start for us next year and he can place Prescott on the back burner for now?

Some of those quotes from his recent interview were head scratching. With him, you really can't tell. Is he simply just trying to drive up Romo's value or does he really envision a scenario where Tony starts and Dak is the backup?

I think you answered your own question...Jerry is being Jerry. Dak will be the starter going forward.

If they are/were seriously considering that then they should've made the switch after the Giants game or in Philly at the latest. Once they stuck with Dak the entire playoff game, even after going down by 18 points, that said he's the QB of this team.

So what would cause the change of heart now? I could see it if Dak had imploded against the Packers but he did not. The notion that Romo definitely would've done better is questionable given his playoff history. Besides, let's pretend they switch: how far into next season would it be until people started calling for Dak? The first punt? The first interception? The first loss? Because it would definitely happen unless the Cowboys go 19-0 and win every game in a blowout.

I think Jerry likes to stick his head out the car windows and hoot and holler through a bullhorn, and it's his car so no one else is going to do anything about it.

Yet at this point Steven is the one with his hands firmly on the wheel.
You, sir, sure know how to paint a picture. Love that metaphor.

Nope! Just being himself.
