This isnt a rag on the refs for blown calls or anything like that. This is a thread to discuss how unwatchable these flag happy, camera time seeking officials are ruining this game.

The game last night should have been over probably an hour before it was, but due to flags the game went on forever. It seemed it was almost every other play. It was sickening. On both sides. This was apparent on Sunday as well.

For a league with the amount of money the NFL has to employ such inept, and attention starved officials is not ok. No one wants to watch a game where you have to check the field after every play to see if its coming back.

This needs to be fixed. I dont even know how they can go about it, but something needs to be done. This game is becoming unwatchable.

over the years, the refs have been making the games about them as if they were a 3rd team in the games

They have been wildly inconsistent in their calls from game to game In their interpretation of rules.

The new rules are bad enough without having inconsistent refs

The “Illegal blindside block” rule is a straight up needless rule and it gets exacerbated by the refs repeatedly defining it differently every single game.

They missed some calls as well as blew some calls. But for the most part, I thought they called it close on both teams.

Speaking as a former basketball official, if both teams have something to chew on at the end of the night, then they called a good game.

They were equal on both sides. I am good with that. Cowboys made mistakes and they were called. They only call I didn't like was the late hit/helmet hit on their QB. He's dancing around in space and then all of a sudden slides? It's tough to pull back as a defender going at full speed. We protect the QB way too much.

It is the inconsistency in the rules that drives us crazy. One play a DB swipes a receiver and they call PI or illegal contact. The next play a DB mugs a receiver and steals his wallet and there is no call.

The same is true with holding. A guys can get tackled as he hits the QB and no call. Then you see a little shirt grab and it gets called. I think the league needs a serious meeting to decide how they want games called. What penalties will they lets slide and when will they throw flags. Right now it seems to be on the whim of the refs.

Oh dont get me wrong. This isnt about missed or not missed. It is about the amount. Its almost like they want screen time.

Refs were bad in our game. 1st, 2nd, and 4th they were biased towards the Chargers... we did get them for the 3rd though, lol...

Seriously, I felt like there were many missed calls and a few made up ones

To me NY is in their ear saying we want a close game so keep slowing down any momentum. Also if it’s Dallas keep them under wraps

The 60 yarder was a busted play that took a while to develop so the refs couldn’t pull out the quick flag as there were too many moving parts

Pollard did a great job positioning himself and breaking a tackle. It’s not like he was untouched

But if they're the RIGHT calls, then I don't care about the amount of calls being made.

Too often, you hear "Let 'em play!" Then something egregious happens, then it's "Refs cheating. Why they didn't call that?"

Can't have it both ways.

Too many rules and too many that are subjective - two things could really help

1 get full time officials and have them work year round

2 use technology where possible to take more subjectivity out of the equation

There's a lot of truth here....unfortunately while the cowboys do benefit sometimes from missed calls I do think if we added it all up we would probably have more that go against us than dont...not sure if any analysis has ever been done but would be very interesting to see.

I'm sure every fan base feels this...except the Patriots

I felt like I was watching a basketball game. It sucked the joy out of watching really.

Again, last night there was some very questionable calls made and missed for both teams.

But overall, I thought the refs called a fair game.

I used to ref. They're probably already working their craft full time, even if they have separate careers.

To get to the pro level, you must attend an insane number of officiating clinics, ref games, and get certifications. Most sports seasons go at least 6-9 mos as it is. The other 3 mos is when they're studying rules and training to actually be in shape to call the game.

What are they supposed to do that they don't do now?

I dont know. I think it has more to do with overall mediocre coaching, the quality of offensive line play declining league wide for years, and the mentality league wide both players and owners that results dont matter because no matter what i am going be cashing huge checks.
