So lets play offseason roster bingo. These are the positions I think will be filled in a long, boring offseason:

RB2, RB3, FB, TE, WR, Swing Tackle, OT4, DT, and FS.

Other than Earl Thomas, I think the plan remains in place to develop inhouse players and build through the draft. We don’t have glaring holes to fill but we could end up signing salary cap cuts like Gerald McKoy that would be great value if the stars align.

RB2 and RB3: I don’t see FAs that stand out and think they have higher priorities in the draft than spending a pick in the 2nd – 4th on a RB. Rod Smith had a down year but he does all four things they need – run, catch, block and play ST. So I think he gets resigned until there is a salary cap cut we aren’t expecting. An explosive Darren Sproles type at RB3 would be great but Zeke does those things already and there are few of those RBs in each draft. I think a late draft pick is the RB3.

FB – plenty of options to upgrade from Olawale. Mike Burton, Anthony Sherman and Tre Maddon are all upgrades and two draft prospects are rated as 6th round picks.

TE – 2nd or 3rd round pick. It’s a super deep draft for TEs so there is no need to reach for one.

WR – I think the slot WR is Golden Tate or a guy like Randall Cobb. I think we draft a WR in the 4th or 5th round also because this draft is so deep, I really don’t see a draft pick taking Beasley’s spot as a rookie. DMN has Travis Benjamin as a salary cap casualty, I would love to see him, Austin and a draft choice competing for jobs with the current guys we have.

Swing Tackle – Likely that they resign Fleming but if not, the replacement is likely a veteran who is cut for cap reasons.

OT – Deep draft for OT, I think a 4th or 5th round pick is a development OT for this spot.

DT – I think this is our 2nd round pick and we go hard after a veteran like McCoy as well.

DE – we have DLaw, Gregory, Taco, Dorance Armstrong and Tyrone Crawford if needed. I don’t see spending money or picks on the position.

LB – This group is a total wildcard. IMO Damien Wilson leaves in FA, Chris Covington takes his starting spot and Sean Lee returns on a smaller contract. YMMV.

CB – A big CB who is a Kris Richard project is drafted in the 5th round or later.

RB2: I'd like to see a draft pick here, but if we need Rod Smith for special teams, he's OK I guess.

RB3: Dumpster dive. 3rd day pick, UDFA, or vet minimum free agent. We may not even carry 3 tailbacks.

FB: Dumpster dive. We just don't use fullbacks, and honestly, if you don't have a good fullback it's not worth carrying a fullback anyway IMO.

TE: 2nd or 3rd round pick for me. Anything later would probably just be another JAG, and with Jarwin, Schultz, and Rico under contract, we don't just need another body. Any guy we add has to be more talented than Jarwin IMO.

WR: I'd probably go looking in free agency for one. Slots are fairly cheap.

LT: This one's hard. Good tackles are seldom available past the second round, and they don't hit the market often either (and when they do, they're often grossly overpaid). If Fleming's down for it, I'd offer him another contract, but if he leaves for more money elsewhere then we're in a bind.

OT4: Go JAG dumpster diving.

DT: I'd like to put a 2nd-4th round pick here.

FS: Does Earl Thomas still want to be here? I'd offer a 2 or 3 year deal if he's amenable to it. He wants All-Pro dollars, and I think we can pay him those as long as we front load it to get out of the way of all our second-contract players blowing up.

Earl Thomas signed as the only F.A. of consequence. Flemming re-signed as Swing T. Lee takes pay cut and sticks around. FB no name F.A. Rod Smith Kept as RB3 and Special teams. Wilson and Joe Thomas both gone.

If i get a chance to add a back that makes our backfield like Ingram & Kamara, i am doing that in a heartbeat.

Why drop Joe Thomas? It definitly saves money but he looked good in limited reps. He would have played a ton if LVE hadn't gone full LVE.

Joe Thomas being cut and Lee taking a pay cut are necessary to sign our own and bring in Earl Thomas. That is how I see it anyway. He could be kept but if you keep Lee, Continue with Covington and draft another than he seems unnecessary.

Kind of a simple no brainer off season.

I feel like the draft will fall well for us too. Deep at DT and TE which should be our first two picks. Can go BPA after that.

Lots of options at Safety in FA. I know we like ET the best but no need to over spend.

Other than that just a run of the mill bargain bin roster filling FA.

Not sexy at all but I think we will be better than last year.

Tate and Thomas in FA?

Love.

We can resign everyone, sign ET and extend Dak and Amari Cooper with just the money we have now. New contracts for DLaw and Cooper probably reduce the short term cap rather than increase it.

The no brainers like Allen Hurns get cut IMO but I dont think we need to cut guys like Thomas.

It will be interesting to see how Dlaw's deal is structured. He might end up being tagged again. If that happens then obviously his cap hit go's up and not down. If they do re-sign him to a long term deal then they may want to front load it a bit to make future moves easier.

I could go either way on Thomas. I just think his pay is a little high to be the no 4 or 5 LB on a team that usually only has 2 on the field at a time.

Yup, hard to find those gems though. Also I wonder if guys like Kamara and Hunt make teams overdraft the guys in this draft who could turn into that type of player.

they really need to upgrade the back up running back spot smith is a jag big time

He might be a solid #2 or #3 RB, and should only cost about $12+ million/year.
I wonder how bad bell screwed the pooch by his hold out. He could have had 14.5 million more in his account to do what he loves to do. But held out.
