Offseason Report

*Sean Lee - I really don't see any more risk with his knees than any other player. Knee injuries are all too common in the nfl and most players recover which he has done. They wouldn't have taken him if there was any question with the knees.

*Akwasi Owusu-Ansah - His coverage ability is considered a strength by all the scouting I've seen. He's considered an elite physical talent compared to the top corners in the draft. He also alternated between corner and safety from play to play. Most of his interceptions happened when he was playing safety.

*Jamar Wall - He's a sixth round pick. They are taking a flyer on a guy to try and fill a nickel/dime back spot that Alan Ball may be vacating to play safety. You never have enough corners.

*Sean Lissemore - He's listed at 6-4 298, but I did hear on one of the Cowboys' radio show guys claim that he's not that tall. Regardless, he's a seventh round flyer on a guy that is 300 pounds that can run. (same thing they did when they drafted Ratliff) This late they are looking for one "special" quality and this guy is very athletic and played really well at William & Mary.

They are actually starting him out at NT and he can also play end. I can't blame them for taking a flyer on a guy that reminds them of Jay Ratliff. I'll take those kind of guys at the end of drafts everytime.

I think the grade on Young is too high. I don't like that pick at all but I admit that he may be better than he looks. He's ponderous, awkward and stiff. But he gets in the way pretty good.

Spend more time.

It's Lissemore.

And they started out with six picks and ended up with six picks.

Sam Young gets a A- and Jamar Wall gets a C-. Based on what?

And AOA played Safety in college.
AOA played both CB and S

Yeah. No kidding.

But the OP said in his article the following...

Plus, he’s never, from what I know, played safety before at the collegiate level.

from what ive read(i could be wrong) his senior year position was safety
Akwasi says that he alternated on certain downs between corner and safety.

not a ton at safety tho

You just wrote that you didn't know if he ever played any Safety, now you know he didn't play a whole lot though.

???

He played a lot of Safety when they went to Two Deep coverage and it's where he had a lot of his INT's.

Listen...

Coach McDonald talks AOA

If you didn't know then stick with that. Don't just make stuff up.

Welcome to the board by the way.

Some posters got that turned around. The DMN blog actually said he was going to start out at end, which agrees with what Lissemore said in an interview.

Jonathan: Did you get a chance to line up at DT and DE in mini-camp? Where did they give you the bulk of your reps?
Sean: I played all three positions, but most of my focus was on the right three-technique end.

It was Wade that said they were starting him out at NT and that he could also play end.

No, it was the opposite. I thought it was that way too, then I went back and read it and he said they were starting him out at end.

I tried to find it a little bit ago, but couldn't find anything either way. Someone else is welcome to put their better search skills to use on this, though.:

Found it.

From a DMN interview of Phillips after the draft:

On Sean Lissemore being a nose tackle or a defensive end:

“He can play both, and Ratliff can actually play both. If you can get the attributes like Jay’s or any of the top guys we have, then that’s what you’re looking for.”

On how Lissemore will fit in:

“He’s a real smart kid so I think he can learn those pretty easily. But we will probably start him at end first and work him inside. But nose guard is actually easier to learn.”

Hold a contest for the best user name with seven in it.

I've got one in mind, but some of the creative minds on here might top me.

I can trump you straight from the horse's mouth. Wade starts talking about Lissemore at the 7:00 mark.
