Didn't we just have three different guys do that in Week 1?

And Roy AVERAGED more yards per catch tonight (18.8) than the LONGEST catch any of the Panthers' wide receivers had all game (15 yards). Crayton would have, too, if one catch hadn't been called back.

We have three wide receivers and a running back all averaging at least 20 yards per catch this season. Overall, our yards per catch average (14.4) is the third-highest in the league.

almost all of that is from the very first game when romo had something like 13.3 ypa. 2 games in a row our passing game has sucked.

Excellent point. And you are right on target. I think the thing that is disturbing and that gets everyone all worked up is simply the lack of consistency. It's so hit or miss, but so is the NFL I suppose. Either way we need to knock #2 receiver out of the way so we don't have to sweat it...in the draft or through free agency...Crayton will do his Crayton thing at #3 as easily as 2...I love Patrick Crayton, he's a very flexible receiver...so slot in another #2 and Roy Williams will be better. I wasn't around here at the time, but I was basically bleeding at the gums and running off at the mouth for them to procure Torry Holt, who is doing a good job in jacksonville, which I commonly refer to as the place where wideouts go to die... He's gonna get 900-1,000 yards playing for that team and in addition, he's a name but not like Owens. He's a name many current DB's remember watching school them and can you imagine? Can you imagine the mere smokescreen of Holt?, forget production... cause it would be right there with what we got now at least.

2 games in a row our passing game has ****ed.

Roy averaged 18.8 yards per catch tonight, and Crayton averaged 14.4. Romo averaged 9.9 yards per attempt when throwing to our wide receivers. He threw for 255 yards. That's a bad game?

Romo completed 66.7 percent of his passes, averaged 7.7 yards per attempt and didn't throw an interception. There were only 26 times all of last season that a quarterback had at least 30 attempts and did that (out of the 302 times that a QB had at least 30 attempts.)

Adam don't be defensive. Yes the offense has played well, but that's due to Tony's resourcefulness, RBs, TEs and line.

There are clearly numerous downs where nobody is clearing open.

We don't currently have a receiver like Glenn who was always able to separate himself. This isn't news. This has been widely acknowledged.

He was our leading wide receiver against the Giants.

Regardless of how the rest of the team performed, a 1 catch for 20 yard day isn't a strong arguing point.

It especially is hard to argue for a guy who has 2 catches for 62 yards on the year as our #3 WR.

I also noticed you mentioned our offensive totals such as YPG. It doesn't really matter how the rest of Miles' teammates are performing. Miles himself is not performing and in this business, you either perform or you do not. If you don't chances are you will be replaced.

That's not to say Ogletree is the answer. But let's not overlook Austin's production, or lack thereof because of others production around him. We always need to be looking to get better no matter what the results.

You mean like a Torry Holt? He is consistently getting separation still (Benny gets all pissed off again at the fact that they didn't so much as sniff his hall of fame cleats):yousuck:I think they didn't even consider it because after Roy Williams looked so awful they didn't want a Holt to come in and threaten his No #1 status...but man would Roy be off and running if Holt was on the other side. It didn't happen, and now I think i've properly vented after months of confusion on why we didn't get the no-brainer... I'm still gonna cry into my cheerios every time our passing game dosen't seem quite up to par about what could have been...

In this case I think the logical choice would have been the right choice...ok i'm done on Holt

I'm ok with what we got, but without drafting or obtaining a guy and Romo's sometimes shakiness, I don't get some of our moves

It is when we threw only 29 passes and rarely even had a third wide receiver on the field.

Not when he's rarely on the field and we're averaging more than 15 yards per attempt to him. Bennett is on the field much, much more, has been targeted more than twice as much and has only three catches for 27 yards -- for a whopping 3.0 yards per attempt. If anyone hasn't been pulling their weight in the passing game, it's him.

When he has been on the field, he has performed. But we haven't used three wide receivers very often.

What do you want to do, start Ogletree and keep Roy or Crayton on the bench? No thanks.

...should keep Roy off the field. Not only has he been contributing with catches, but he's doing a great job of blocking down field.

I value Adam's opinion but I've been saying for years that Austin and Hurd are JAGS.. Nothing Special.. We lucked out on ROMO.. Draft Skill position players in the early rounds.. Sure you get busts and they take time to develop but at least they have upside and the intagibles to work with.. Hurd and Austin show flashes of being good but they are not consistent... Play Ogletree at least Romo has a knack for finding him...
