I know it was said....someone is saying Wade said it....I could be wrong....but one of them said it...and of course I am paraphrasing...but it went something like "the way he gets in and out of his breaks is like Terry Glenn"Hostile;3671452 said:Link?
The only person associated with the Cowboys I have heard talk about his potential is Ray Sherman.
Ogletree does not want to play special teams....and if he has enough to be a slot WR...I would much rather let him get a shot as th #3...than to waste him covering kicks.Joshmvii;3671471 said:What's there to understand? Last year we utilized his speed on some sub packages throwing him screens and stuff as the #4 receiver. This year, we drafted Dez and don't use the #4 receiver as much.
Now if you're asking why he isn't ahead of Hurd on the depth chart, I think that has a lot to do with the fact that Hurd is a hard worker and a great special teamer, and Ogletree seems not to have that drive that makes guys excellent. I foresee Ogletree ending up somebody's #3 receiver down the line, and probably putting up decent numbers, but then again, if he isn't willing to work hard, he may just fizzle out of the league. I don't see him sticking around here next year, especially if Holley keeps playing well on ST.
Okay, but in fariness, that in bold above is not the same as "the next Terry Glenn."bbailey423;3671476 said:I know it was said....someone is saying Wade said it....I could be wrong....but one of them said it...and of course I am paraphrasing...but it went something like "the way he gets in and out of his breaks is like Terry Glenn"
And believe me...watching Terry run routes was a thing of beauty...his transitions were seamless....which is why his knees are shot today and will only worsen as he gets old. Lots of guys who run lazy routes are not just because they are bad route runners....or lack agility...lazy routes are often "business" decisions.
I mean Jerry gave Dez #88 because he "reminds him of Mike Irvin"....Hostile;3671493 said:Okay, but in fariness, that in bold above is not the same as "the next Terry Glenn."
It was Wade, and you pretty much nailed it.bbailey423;3671501 said:I will try to find the EXACT quote from Jerry/Wade regarding Ogletree and you can decide.
Jerry STILL has not figured this out about THIS team. They don't handle praise well. They are more relieved to have FINALLY won a playoff game..than they are desperate to win a Super Bowl. Winning a playoff game was more about them getting people off there back.CCBoy;3671526 said:Olgetree came crashing back down to the turf during training camp this summer. Since he had something of a work related complacency, he certainly doesn't present on an active status what both Sam Hurd and Jesse Holley present. They both can function in a similar role as a receiver, in three and four receiver sets. They may not present as good a deep threat as might Ogeltree, but Miles Austin and Dez Bryant do already.

Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips said WR Kevin Ogletree reminds him of former NFL standout Terry Glenn: “I’m not saying he is Terry Glenn, but he runs good, precise routes with speed. He doesn’t slow down to cut. That’s something that reminds me of Terry Glenn.” Ogletree is expected to take on a little more work in the Dallas offense now that Patrick Crayton has been traded to San Diego. He had 12 catches for 120 yards and a touchdown over five preseason games in August.

And Jerry/Wade cannot WAIT to point out there accomplisments...point out how good someone is...and it is like a curse (Bennet, Felix, Jenkins, Ogletree and now it seems like Miles) eat it up and start the twitter, youtube, facebook look at ME campaign.
The Cowbosy will finally win another game this year...probably a game no one expects they will win...then they will go RIGHT back to feeling relieved that they actually won a game when many are saying they will not win another one this year. And instead of winning 2 in a row...they will probably mail in the games that follow. This team plays for ALL the wrong reasons and that culture has been established from J-E-R-R-Y!!!!!!!!!
