Ohio State RB Quinshon Judkins is this generation's Marion Barber III

Lance compares him to Joe Mixon

Overview

Judkins is a productive runner possessing good size and great contact aggression. His running style is both urgent and a bit chaotic. He runs with good burst inside but is more collision-based than wiggle-oriented when maneuvering through the lane. He’s efficient on runs outside the tackle box, but he has a tough time outracing pursuit to create explosive runs. He is wired and built for a heavier carry count and short-yardage success, but the disparity in yards per carry between Judkins and TreVeyon Henderson, despite running behind the same line, is telling. Judkins might need to be paired with a slasher, but he has the ingredients needed to become a three-down RB1.

Strengths

  • Prototypical size, aggression and play strength.
  • Presses the run deep into the line before cutting.
  • Limits stride length when he looks for better control of his cut quickness.
  • Outside runs feature patience, decisiveness and efficiency in space.
  • Sudden burst to rush past arm traffic at the line of scrimmage.
  • Runs with NFL-caliber physicality and falls forward as a finisher.
  • Touchdown monster with a rushing score for every 16.4 carries over three seasons.
  • Has the dog in him for tough take-ons in blitz pickup.

Weaknesses

  • Hips are too tight for sharp angles as a one-cut runner.
  • Lacks spatial awareness for smooth trips through the interior.
  • Below-average speed to outrace pursuit and stack explosive runs.
  • Averaged less than four yards per carry in five of nine conference games during the 2024 regular season.

I like the player. But he's probably a 2nd round pick. Or what is the plan if he's not there in the 3rd?

If we can't get Johnson, Henderson, Judkins in two, backup plan (to me) would be Harvey, Giddens, Martinez in three.

So, not bad at all.

My question is what's the plan if they're not there at 3? The Cowboys may not want a RB at pick 44.

One of those players should be there where we pick in two and three. I have a hard time believing 8 RBs will go in the first two rounds. If they choose to ignore the position (once again) in the first three rounds, we'd be looking at options like Brooks, Monangai, Skattebo, James in 5 or 6. I'd imagine Neal and Gordon go in 4.

If they can't find a RB in this class they should give up drafting. But I do think they should find one in the first 3 rounds.

RB market is on fire thanks to Barkley. I wouldn't be surprised at all if 6-8 went in the first 2 rounds. Lots of teams in need..........including us. We know Jeanty is going first probably in the top 10. Hampton is next up.......once he goes the run will start.

I think one of them will be there at 76 as well. But all 3 have a higher draft grade than our 3rd round pick. So it is possible.

We're also probably looking at different draft boards. On Tankathon, it would only take 5 RBs in the first 75 picks.

I mean, it could happen, in which case, I'd guess we just have to go really hard after the next best guy with our 5th rounders. Hope it doesn't play out that way.

I didn't remember MB3 being that athletic. He didn't play as fast as that IMO.
MBIII was a much leaner when he came out of a college and a good athlete. He bulked up later in his pro career with Dallas.

I would rather draft Hampton at 12 than hope a good RB falls to us in the 3rd round. There will be a run on RBs right before our 3rd round pick.
Jeanty is now out of the question and if we come out of this draft without a top 5 RB it will feel like a fail.
