...since you're so busy moaning & complaining about us not signing more people...

Please tell us who, at the salaries they were paid, YOU would have had us sign?

And how you would structure it?

Who should we have signed--for the money they were paid by whatever team signed them--that we didn't?

Put up or shut up because it's getting old. Let's see you be the FA genius & tell us all where Jerry, Bill, & most other teams who have NOT SIGNED ANYONE, have gone wrong?

I have not been moaning, so I guess this does not really apply to me. I have mixed emotions. On one hand hand I understand how teams should be built through the draft and on the other hand Washington was better than Dallas last year and they have improved quite a bit already this year. Dallas appears to have taken a step back.

I always get accused of being a BP hater, or something like that. I will defer to his judgement, but I will accept no excuses for failure in BPs 4th year as head coach.

I have not been one complaining...infact I'm fine with what we've done so far, BUT I will say I'm starting to get a little nervous about not landing a kicker about now.

We need to sign Adam V., or put an offer sheet on Josh Brown from Seattle.

They way BP plays games we can expect to have many nailbiters while he coaches here, with that you need a CLUTCH kicker to help win 2-3 games a year. Pay him the damn bonus and move on...non of us will be complaining about overpaying a kicker when he becomes the MVP on this team...

The complainers drive me nuts, too. But, IMO, we should have made a legit play for Bentley - the answer now and for the future. But, the salary was huge, and Cleveland is hometown. I don't think we stood a chance.

We all know PK was a major problem last year. I even think at some point Jerry or Bill said that they would address this aggressively in the offseason.

Therefore I would have signed Ryan Longwell and gave him more money than he got in Minny. If not him, then Vinatieri or Vanderjagt.

I also would actively pursue Lavar Arrington and Chris Hope.

Hopefully I am not one of the ones seen as complaining... However, I would like to at least be hearing news that we are scheduling player visits. Here are a few names I would like to know/hear more about:

Ty Law
Jon Runyan
Willie McGinest
LaVar Arrington
Adam Vinatieri
Mike Vanderjagt
Sam Cowart
Chris Hope
Jeb Putzier
Kenyatta Walker
etc.

you know, this stance is about as annoying as the chicken littles.

it's the coaches and owners job TO get better players. TO find a way to pay them. TO make improvements where and when they can.

If snyder, who's team was in cap hell and rumored to not even be able to fill a roster due to cuts he'd have to make can go on the spending spree he's on, WE can find a way to fix the OL *IF* we really wanted to.

so i take it your stance is "no one is available for the price we wanna pay so we'll go into next year with what we had last year WHICH SUCKED but it's ok cause no sexy name was there for us at a bargain price"?

that won't get there either dude.

frustrating to hear chicken littles yes. even more frustrating to hear garbage like this when we have money, there ARE players out there we could have TRIED FOR but didn't.

So I get two things from your post: a) that we haven't "tried" and b) you have no suggestions of what we should have done to offer- thus the thread title applies to you.

You make a great point. The only player signed so far in FA who I would have had Dallas sign is Bentley, but not at the amount of cash he received.

However having said that, I will be very disappointed if this team comes away from FA without a veteran kicker. I don't care if it is Vanderjagt or Viniateri.

I don't think anyone has been signed other than Longwell that was really a great fit for us and went for reasonable money.

That being said, the alledged reluctance to spend money on a kicker is getting annoying, especially when we obviously don't have plans to break the bank on anyone else.

Those who are asking "what are we saving the money for?" have a legitimate beef so far.

Jerry and Bill admitted they were taken by surprise in 2004 by how fast and for how much a lot of their FA targets went. I hope history is not repeating itself.

Worked for NE and Pittsburgh.

Which one would you have signed at the price that was paid.

I am very happy with our signings so far. I wanted Akin Adoyele and a LG to replace Allen. We go them both and did not overpay. The only free agent I wish we would have outbid someone for was Scott Fujita. I would have loved to have a linebacking core of Ware-James-Adoyele-Fujita. I guess the Cowboys will bring in Willie McGinest so Burnett can start on the outside in a year or two.

Amen !!!!!!!!!!!!

Randel EL ( Is going to do what?)

Andre Carter (Is going to do what?)

Darren "Bad Knees Howard (Is going to do what?)

Brandon Lloyd sure he is going to make 1 0r 2 nice catches a game but (Is going to do what?)

James to the Cardinals (Yeah Right!!!!! He'll see a superbowl....... on TV!)

All the moves we made are not nice and pretty but look we have a young team and we didn't over spend. I love the cowboys not more then the Lord Jesus, but I never want to see the cowboys in cap hell ever again and neither does Jerry.

I like the NE and Pitt comparisons I really do, except for one problem. Both those team have young franchise QB's, the Cowboys have an aging vet who is useless unless he has an offensive line. The only way the Boys improve that horrible line is via FA, because you are not going to fill that many holes through the draft.
LeCharles Bentley should have been a Cowboy and yes I WOULD have spent JJ's money to get it done. The whole cap hell thing is so overly blown it's ridiculous. If you know what you are doing and willing to pay a decent signing bonus, it is not going to be that big a factor.
The Skins might not have won anything yet, but no one can deny they have improved quicker than anyone in the NFC over the last few years and it's mainly due to good coaching and FA.
