Ok you cowboy gurus, does anyone know of a dallas cowboy that played for the cowboys and the raiders that was in 2-4 superbowls, and his nickname was the Ghost?
ive never heard of a guy by that nickname for the cowboys, and only oakland raider that I know of that played for the raiders named the ghost was dave casper, and he certainly wasnt a dallas cowboy. My friend has his jersey with the ghost on it and # 43, but the name is faded out. He said this player went to 2 superbowls for the cowboys and 2 for the raiders, time frame i think is the early 60's to the 70's, since the cowboys won in 1971, 1977, lost in 1970, 1975, so does anyone know whom this player is? raiders won a super bowl in 1967, too, and 1976 best i remember, joe

No player went to 2 Super Bowls for the Cowboys and the Raiders.

#43 from 1970 on was Cliff Harris. He never played for the Raiders and was not called "The Ghost."

Or is that a Raiders #43 jersey and he had some other with the Cowboys?

Only player in NFL who had a nickname "ghost" was Dave Casper who played for Raiders but he never played for Cowboys.

Hostile, I am thinking that he wore 43 for the raiders, my friend seemed to think that he was a wr, and he was black. Thats all i know, i agree with 03E, only player that went to super bowls for cowboys in 70s was cliff harris and he isnt black, so he had to have worn # 43 for the raiders.
my friend said he went to 2 super bowls with the cowboys and 2 with the raiders, but he isnt sure if the cowboys or raiders won any super bowls while this player was playing for them.
To me, thats why i have a debate with my friend, ive never heard of a guy named the ghost that played for the cowboys, and the only player i know of that played for the raiders named the ghost was dave casper.
so whom is right, my friend or me?

The only player I can think of is Todd Christiansen who wore a number in the 40's and played for both the Cowboys and Raiders. He was a flop at running back for us but the Raiders moved him to TE and I think he was a Pro Bowler.

EDIT: he was a 5 time Pro Bowler.

I don't remember him called the Ghost, though.

I think there's a lot of crossed up information here.

Dave Casper was nicknamed Ghost. He played for the Raiders, Oilers, and Vikings. He wore #87.

Todd Christiansen was drafted by the Cowboys, traded to the Raiders and replaced Casper, but he worse #46.

#43 for the Cowboys all through the 70's was Cliff Harris.

To my knowledge no player in History played for the Cowboys and Raiders in Super Bowls.

I think your friend got conned.

Several years ago I ran across a guy who claimed to have played DB for the Cowboys as one of Thurman's Thieves. Some friends of mine met him and couldn't wait to introduce me to him. So he tells me he played at USC with Ronnie Lott and then was drafted by the Chiefs that same year but ended up as a backup DB on the Cowboys.

I was immediately skeptical, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt until I double checked. My skepticism was correct.

George Atkinson played DB for the Raiders from 1968-77 and was #43. I didn't find any mention of his nickname being Ghost or anything ghost related. He was a cheap shot that knocked out Lynn Swann with a forearm to the back of the head two straight years.

My Sister and Bro inlaw met a guy named John Daniels in CA who told everyone he played for the Cowboys in the early 70's. When I showed up in CA they all wanted me to meet him since of my well known following of the Boys.

I quizzed him lightly, keeping it good natured, and he did seem to have some knowledge, but no more than I though.

Looking through the teams in the history zone I never saw his name appear, which didn't surprise me.

The only player with that name in that era was a safety named Dick Daniels from Pacific...
