This looks like another 2003 year, where we start good and finish bad

I thought playoffs but not SB and still do not...

I have good vives about this team making the playoffs only because this team had made improvements in the offseason, and Parcells had did so well with a worser team in 2003.

The Cowboys 2005 season has been a lot more satisfying than 2003... we should be 10 - 1, because every game has been winnable, as opposed to 03' when we got off to the crazy start, and then started getting exposed for having no run game. We lost a lot of big games that year, and slipped in the playoffs, whereas this year it seems we are actually turning the corner and earning our spot this year.

However SB? Nah, our games have all been close, and in playoff type situations, and we have lost them... maybe this helps us in the acutal playoff, but I think it is just foreshadowing. We need that clutch kicker to help Parcells philosophy.

Next year, is our year...

Super Bowl you kidding I was just hoping they would finish 8-8 or 9-7. This team is coming together alot faster then any of us thought or could have hoped for.
That part sounded like something Jim Mora would say after a bad loss.

I am still thinking SuperBowl this year. It wasn't like we lost to the Jets yesterday; we were a missed FG away from beating the now 9-2 Broncos. IMO, I think the Broncos are the best team in the NFL, even better than the undefeated Colts (Denver will be in the Super Bowl, not Indy) and yet the Cowboys went step to step with them. There isn't any team in the NFC near as dominating as Denver is, even Seattle, who will limp into the playoffs this year. Dallas has an excellent chance of getting to the SuperBowl. Call me a homer all you want, but Denver was the only team remaining on the schedule that I was really worried about, and we proved that we can beat them. A lot of your are concerned about Carolina, but I live in South Carolina and have been forced to watch almost all the Carolina games. Trust me, this team ain't that great. Dallas will whop them in Carolina...marks my words. I see no reason why Dallas shouldn't be 12-4, by the end of the season.

I think this team would be a lot better with the brakes off. On both sides of the ball.

Let the pass rush come hell bent for leather and dare teams to stop us on offense.

This is not the 80's Giants with smashmouth football. We have thoroughbreds. Let them run.

Sorry, I dont see Bledsoe putting this team on his shoulders and winning games. That would be a disaster happening. I have no confidende in Bledsoe if he is allowed throw more than he is right now. He is effective the way he is being used, with occasional throw more philosophy when the game calls for it. Sure something like Washington loss could have been avoided if Bledsoe threw more since they had zero pressure that day and he could have thrown all day, IMO.

But From the Games I have seen live, which show more than what is really shown on TV, he flat out holds the ball longer than is needed, waiting for long ball, rather than dump off quickly to wide open underneath guys.

And reason, the D has been effective is because of the ball grinding offense. Thats why they hold offenses effectively, because they know Offense will hold the ball long enough.

Anyway, I like the approach on both sides of the ball myself. Its just OL still needs an upgrade or two, to be really good.

So anyway, I was just wondering how many of you all thought Cowboys had real good chance of going all the way to SB? Come to think of it, I dont want them to go, since I dont think they will win it. Maybe its me, I just rather not have Cowboys go to SB, if their chances of winning it are minimal. At this point, I doubt they go to even NFC championship.

I think that with everything you have written so far, I find this particular statement the most bothersome. As far as I'm concerned, Dallas could go in this Superbowl as a 4 touchdown underdog and I would still want them to be there. If there is one thing that this team has proven so far this season, it's their ability to be competitive regardless of whom their opponent might be.

And even if they do wind up getting blown out in the Superbowl, everyone here (including yourself) would have to admit that the Cowboys have more than exceeded our expectations for this season. We can then go into the 2006 season knowing that we are a legitimate team; requiring some minor "tweaking" by Parcells to take it all the way the next time.

Plus everytime that the Cowboys earn the opportunity to play in a Superbowl from here on out, it will only add to their legacy as the greatest NFL team in history.

And I'll take that everytime...

Because of this FA, thats why. Here is the reason I say that.

Most of the time the team that loses the SB or wins the SB never makes it back usually there again in FA because, short turn around for the team to play again, unless the team is deep, like NE was last year or Broncos were when they won back to back.

Plus there are lot more distractions after the team has been to SB too. See NE and Eagles this year, Injury Ravaged.

So my reasoning is, that if they lose bad, they might be set back two years. Now injuries are not necessary a gurantee, but , from all accounts, players have lot less time to heal up after SB, then say NFC championship game loss etc. Even 2-3 weeks matter, IMO. When most teams/players are resting up and healing up from a long season, SB teams have barely completed their season. Then they have barely a month before they start their offseason workouts.

Anyway, thats my reasoning, not that I would be unhappy if they get to SB and lose it etc. I just don't think they are ready for it this year. But I hope I am wrong on that.

I think we will finish well. I am not convinced we will go to the SB and barring a miracle, I don't think I will be convinced until it happens. If you have a pack of fairly even teams (let's try NY, Chicago, Carolina, Seattle, Dallas). The odds of any one team making it are low (approximately 16% each). Now I know that's not exactly right due to 1st round byes and home field advantage, but in our case I think the example is still roughly correct.

We take it one game at a time and hope for ther best. But I'm keeping my expectations in check.

In the age of FA:

only NE, STL, GB, DEN, has been fortunate to go back twice in a row.

Phil & IND have both had setbacks numerous years in a row via the playoffs

The key to all of these teams is that they were not one trick ponies, you can leave that for the Ravens, Bucs, and Panthers. Riding a good defense into the Postseason and having luck fall your way.

I want this team to be in the bowl not based on our defense, but because we are just that damn good. That's what will seperate us from the first group and the third group. And we will be back for multiple trips deep in the postseason.

I see your point though, and I'd hate to be pick #31 in the NFL draft, at the same time there is a lot of pride being able to say you were even in the big game. Also a lot of people around here don't even remember the feeling of being in a legitimate SB (10 years ago). Watching the game is a lot more fun, when your team is involved and I'd love to have that feeling again.

I felt 9-7 and possible playoffs. I just dont recall these kind of tough loss games/winnable games in some time. I just hope they play out well, because I dont want to say hey remember when we had the Commander game/Seattle game/Bronco game slip away.I will give BP credit for keeping them in the right frame of mind after these tough losses.
