Same here. I'd rather NOT have the backside safety take an angle to run 25 yards downfield everytime the opponent runs a sweep the other way. He has to expect SOMEONE else to do their job and contain the outside -- if not at or near the line of scrimmage, then certainly within 10 yards or so. If you're taking an angle to make the tackle 25 yards downfield, then you're not going to be there to stop a cutback, and you'll never make the tackle until the back is already 25 yards downfield. That's like saying everytime the opponent completes a pass to someone else's guy, Roy should take off for the end zone in case the guy goes untouched through the rest of the defense. No thanks. Just pursue the ball and expect other players to do their jobs.
