I just watched the breakdown of the film on DallasCowboys.com...I am not sure how Mick can blame Roy for the bad angle...cause if Davis had done what he was suppose to do Portis would of had to run right into Williams...if he had taken the angle Mickey suggested Portis would have cut back inside and kept running in that angle to the endzone.

Same here. I'd rather NOT have the backside safety take an angle to run 25 yards downfield everytime the opponent runs a sweep the other way. He has to expect SOMEONE else to do their job and contain the outside -- if not at or near the line of scrimmage, then certainly within 10 yards or so. If you're taking an angle to make the tackle 25 yards downfield, then you're not going to be there to stop a cutback, and you'll never make the tackle until the back is already 25 yards downfield. That's like saying everytime the opponent completes a pass to someone else's guy, Roy should take off for the end zone in case the guy goes untouched through the rest of the defense. No thanks. Just pursue the ball and expect other players to do their jobs.

Excellent coverage clarification Zaxor and Adamjt13. Love the simple visuals, very cool and appreciate the posting effort.

Keith Davis refuses to believe he is a Free saftey and not a Strong Safety Light or mini linebacker lined up 20 yards back.

He is responsible for the massive vulnarability in the middle of the field which seemed to be the only real area Brunell was throwing to. Play action was killing Keith Davis...and that should never fool a free safety. Watkins (as raw as he is)was not allowing that.

When I go back and watch the games that Watkins played in he was near the ball or right there to take out the guy if the CB or LB missed on the tackle. Keith Davis is always a step behind or trying to knock the guys head off instead of being a "Safety" and making sure he gets the tackle.

I can't wait for Pat Watkins to get back in the game and I hope they tell him just make a play dont worry about the PI or holding or anything just use your instincts. He is always in position to make a play he just seems gun shy to actually try on the deep balls.
