I think that's his biggest strength. what do you mean by "If he ever just did takedowns and then used his collegiate wrestling skills?
I think I explained it already, but I will again. Wrestlers take you to the ground then bend you in ways you are not supposed to bend. I believe that is called submissions and gets you wins in MMA. In other words, I do not believe he can be out wrestled due to his sheer size and experience.

i'm thinking that it's going to be a dirty boxing match against the fence with brock getting the take down and ultimately getting a stoppage on the ground.

I think BJJ is more about submissions than wrestling is. Wrestlers want to put you in a disadvantageous position and get in hits when they can, or ground and pound, or just lay on top of you and eek out a win.

In BJJ you're far more likely to be bending things the way they were meant to be bent, and I'd consider BJJ a martial art.

Collegiate wrestling, yes. Stuff like grapevines and arm bars are not legal in collegiate wrestling, but it doesn't mean they don't know how to use them. I was not a good wrestler, but if I get your arm, I can make you scream for mercy. Arms do not bend against themselves. That is why guys tap out to arm bars. That is all I am saying.

Lesnar may overwhelm him with his size and strength, but Carwin is a better pure fighter. But with Lesnar, it's almost like everyone he faces is fighting someone who's in a higher weight class. I think Mir goes like 250, yet he looked like a middleweight in with Lesnar.

How Lesnar ever makes weight is amazing to me. Guy probably walks around at close to 300 lbs (or more), and yet can get down to 265. That, in itself, is an amazing skill. NFL players talk about losing 20-25 lbs after a game in hot weather, but that's after the game. This weight has to be lost before the game even starts.....

Carwin's a skilled fighter. He has more than a puncher's chance. No outcome in this fight would shock me (other than it going the distance). If I had to wager, I'd bet on Lesnar to KO him.

Man, Brock must be really good at fooling tests then seeing as he has been that big since high school.

He has been arrested for carrying steroids before....

BTW, I believe they should be legal (and of regulated) so I am hardly a huge critic but he clearly uses HGH at the very least.

And I knew plenty of steroid users who passed through high school and their once yearly test and through college and their 2 or 3 times yearly tests EASILY.

Carwin and Brock and Overeem ALL have used steroids.

I believe Carwin wins as the FAR better striker.

Brock's game is ground and pound. He has 4 wins.. ever.

He will not be able to bully Carwin around because Carwin also goes into these fights well over 265 pounds.

Lesner has fought 235 pound Couture, 230 pound Mir, 260 pound fluffed up Mir, 250 pound Heath Herring and 240 pound Min Soo Kim.

He has never faced a big guy before at all. His style dictates he us his size.

He was in a solid grappling match with Couture until his size gave him the edge... but Couture was holding his own in wrestling the larger bear for a while.

Lesnar was exonerated when tests showed that the seized pills were not, in fact, steroids, officers were "very apologetic" when lab results cleared Lesnar.

Carwin, you mean?

Carwin hasn't said much of anything behind the scenes that I've heard. He wished him good health when he was sick even.

Brock got in the ring after his fight and compared his interim belt to a cracker jack toy, which may just be to promo the fight, but still.

Brock knows how to hype a fight, that's for sure, but the idea that he hasn't been talking trash and it's Carwins doing does hold water in my opinion.
He was talking a lot of trash about Brock. When Brock had to postpone the fight, Carwin was insinuating he was soft and that he would have fought.

If Brock tries to stand toe-to-toe with Carwin, he will be knocked out. Simple as that. If he takes him down, and I imagine he will be able to, then he will probably win the fight. Either by TKO or decision. The only thing is, I don't know if Brock will be able to control Carwin on the ground like he did Mir. Brock is freak though...just an absolute monster. Perhaps he can...

When the offseason sucks this is what you get sometimes. :D

Glad I'm not the only one that thinks this is one of the most boring offseasons in recent history. I can't even bring myself to read anything in the Fan Zone and Off Topic has turned into Perez Hilton's blog.
