We altered our game plan. It wasn't talk from our much maligned front office/coaching staff. A lot of us thought it would be (all talk, no adjustment). Another ho-hum effort at game-planning. Wrong, I was, too. We came out with quick read passes from Dak, set up the run, used the bite from the Giants to burn them early. It set the table for the rest of the game. The Giants D got snuffed out, individual stats be damned. We were in their head.
I wanted more of Zeke, but he had a nice game. He had lanes, was effective, and because of Dak being utilized more in the run game, kept the Giants D on their heels.
We limited Cam to 70 yds in the second half of last game (week 1). But our offense lacked the creativity to beat them, even with our stifling D. Not the case last night.
This week was different. We sent Dak on the move. He may be somewhat limited on his throws (tho, don't tell him that on that perfect bomb to Tavon), but if he can keep the opponent guessing -- his read option is opened up all day, and given a green light to go go go -- it opens up options for the coaching staff to draw from. Also, see him run right at Landon Collins? Challenge excepted, mother ****er.
Our D line is nasty. When we get Gregory back, as well as Irving, it will be elite. Our outside corners are proving to be elite...
...Chicken and egg. What is the causation and correlation? Who gives a ****. BJones and Awuzie shut down that "vaunted" Ol' Dirty Beckham, Engram, etc. If Schultz holds on to the onside kick, game is over 21-10. They got three more points. Also, for this talk of Lee's injury, he was back in for the second onside kick.
Our OLine held up. Looney was really good. Hell, we saw CWilliams reach the second level on a play or two. Dare I say, kid is developing before our eyes, early in the season? And that, omigosh, a rookie can get better after a lackluster preseason and bad week one game. Our OL gave up zero sacks and only three QB hits. I don't give a rats bung hole if it was against a Giants team deemed unworthy -- you play your opponent. You beat the teams you're supposed to beat.
Vander Esch played a hell of a second half. Jaylon made some mistakes, but he was all over that hail mary to the end zone. Of the two, I really liked what I saw from Vander Esch.
Our safeties are fast to the ball, surprisingly fast to the ball... and aside from the Engram blown coverage, played a hell of a game (that was Heath and JSmith, but I digress).
So, whoa is us, we didn't kill them 41-3? Or hell yeah, we are 1-1, tied with WSH and PHI for first place, and our coaching staff is showing some life at adjusting to the woeful week one performance from their offense(ive)-gameplan?
You pick. I chose to look forward to week 3 and a Seahawks team with just as woeful an OLine as the Giants have -- they giving up 6 sacks week 1, as well as 8 tfl. We'll see how they do tonight against Fangio's CHI led D. Wilson is the best QB we will have faced at that point, but when Will Dissly, a 4th rd pick, was their standout receiver from week one, and we have two blanket corners to dispatch on he and Lockette, I like our chances. Richard knows that team, and should have a great understanding of how to attack RWilson.
