Wasn't this measurement based on DE's? Pollack was moved to an OLB in Cincy. Would there be a difference in need for arm length in an OLB compared to a DE?

for a 3-4 OLB, no, because he's basically a DE, and will be going one-on-one with OTs, so a wide-wingspan is almost a necessity so that he doesn't get grabbed...almost

but you also have to have power besides long arms, and which Carpenter possesses, he disengages from blocks really well

Like summer posted, they want Ends/3-4OLBs with long arms to keep the olinemen off of them, separation.

When Ware started catching on he could keep the olineman off of him and keep the runner from cutting inside or cutting off tackle. Then when rushing they use their arms/hands to keep separtion to get around the tackle.

Basically a crib sheet on every player.

Here's why I want Lawson....35" arm length. That's longer than Ware (who already has 34.5" arms) and far longer than Carpenter (32" arms).

Lawson would be nice.......but not necessarily because he has long arms :laugh2:
He's athletic, fast, strong for his size and had pretty good production in college.
Draft analysts ,who supposedly watched alot of film on him, say he was alot more consistent than Mario Williams.

(disclaimer)
But Carpenter, Wimbley or anyone else who could help would be a great addition as well.
