Commanders | Kelly could be headed for IR
Fri, 29 Aug 2008 10:59:22 -0700

Matt Mosley, of ESPN.com, reports Washington Commanders WR Malcolm Kelly (knee) could be placed on Injured Reserve, according to head coach Jim Zorn.

So if he comes back strong next year...is he still a bust?

It is already hard enough for a WR coming out of college to contribute, going on IR makes it infinitely harder.

It's a good thing Isaiah Stanbach was a QB coming out of college then.

So do we still rue not drafting him or not? Not sure how to proceed here.

It can be a tricky road to travel in discussing when or when not to engage in the ruing. :D

I guess that he had a bad knee.

Mosley also was saying that he was fat and out of shape all camp.

Still, just to be safe... I'm going to rue.

Absolutely.

What reports?

before the draft there were reports that Kelly's knees (both of them) were shot, and he dropped off the face of many people's draft boards, completely, because of it

Oh, yeah.

True.

Another stellar pick by those awesome Commanders.

I bet a Carolina Panther cheerleader hit Kelly and knocked him out for the season.

Has Jason Campbell completed anything since the Canton game?

I'm a Sooner fan, and was a big Malcolm Kelly fan, but I was glad that we didn't draft him.

Two things about him made me very nervous, one was his habit of disappearing in big games and the second and more serious one was his reoccurring leg issues.

I think he's going to have career-long leg issues. Maybe going on IR for a year will give him a chance to get fully healthy, but I have my doubts.

It wouldn't surprise me if he eventually makes it to the field for the Redsk*ns, but I'd be equally surprised if he ever plays a full season.

I'm putting the over/under on his career catches at about 70.

That's a shame but not surprising after all the reports I read about him having really bad knees.
