# 60 OG/OC Marcus Martin

The "media" don't seem to think he has played well.

He has won every practice rep that I've seen in the 1-on-1 drills.

Also I have not seen him get beat in practice included the scrimmage. I can't say I've seen all of his snaps that made it to video, but from what I've seen he has been good.

In the run game he is big and powerful.

He appeared to play more snaps than most other players in the scrimmage. He played both Center and Guard.

Nate Newton started to say something about him during the scrimmage broadcast but Broaddus or somebody interrupted.

I think Nate was trying to say that he came to camp too heavy but I'm not sure that was his point.

He reminds me of Ron Leary (not tall and has a big barrel chest).

I appreciate this insight. To this point, I have heard nothing about Marcus Martin one way or another. Nothing good and nothing bad, just a lot of... nothing.

It's nice to read some level of information about this player.

The media really being Broaddus and crew.

@xwalker
How does he compare to Parnell? :) jk

He has potential to be the next Ultra Pet Cat...

I need to see him in the preseason games. The video from practices is not ideal for evaluation. It's great for seeing the 1-on-1 drills but team practice does not always have a good view of the OL.

Right on! The media are on the Connor train so Martin has to overcome a big hill. For a low pay backup, Martin was an excellent find.

X...hasn't he played some center also in camp???

To me that's an endorsement.

Broaddus was also the guy trying to talk up the failure that was Chaz Green at left guard at every turn last year, despite the fact that everyone and their brother could see for themselves that Cooper was markedly better.

So Broaddus assessments in that area are in the toilet for me.

he came into camp listed as 6'3 330lbs and he looks bigger than that

a bit unrelated, but Joe Looney kills me:laugh:

Just promise me you're not going to go "all Parnell" with this guy!

Do you plan on doing an extensive breakdown of the game after Thursday? If so, which positions would you be looking at?

I'm hoping he shows me enough to enough to get that treatment.

Part of the criteria is for the media to either overlook or dislike the player.

I still remember Broaddus during the 2014 training camp saying that Weems would beat out Parnell.

Less than 1 year later, Parnell had a 32 million dollar contract.

Weems played 114 snaps in the NFL after that and was out of the NFL within 2 years.

A big plus that I dont think gets mentioned is with Martin, Fleming and Looney, our 2nd team offense will be much easier to evaluate during the preseason

I'll post something. The extent of it depends on how much time I have available.

For the 1st PS game I want to see a little bit of everyone that is not a proven starter.

In the 2nd PS game I'll narrow my focus.

My top interest is with the borderline players to see who should make the 53 or Practice Squad.
Lance Lenoir for example.
Tapper
Rico
Marcus Martin
etc..

Next I want to see draft picks and new players.
Vander Esch
DT Woods
etc..

Then veterans with questions marks.
Jaylon
Jones moving to CB.
Woods likely starting at Safety.

Parnell was also more athletic and fit than Doug Free. Weems was just a fat man playing Oline.
