Who helped themselves?
OLB Shaq Thompson, JR, Washington (6-2 | 231 | 4.56 | #7)
Saturday's matchup between Washington and Stanford was full of future pros, but one could make the argument that the best player on either roster is Thompson. A former safety, he moved full-time to weakside linebacker this season and has been a turnover machine, adding two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery (which he returned for a touchdown) against the Cardinal. The tape from Saturday displays several of Thompson's strengths as a football player. He understands field leverage, eliminating run lanes and aggressively attacking blockers with take-on strength to shed. Thompson isn't the biggest or strongest, but he is a physical wrap tackler with above average speed and athleticism for the position. On the season, Thompson has recorded 35 tackles, two tackles for loss, one sack, one interception, two fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, three defensive scores and a lot of positive game tape for NFL scouts to swoon over.
