His pain was that bad, he felt no way out. But surely he had someone he could touch and love and feel close to? Someone?

I once came across a Reddit post of a guy who told everyone he was going to get off work and kill himself. It was in r/depression. A lot of people responded, to try to tell him that life was worth living, and that all of life's pains are temporary, etc. He was only 19, I believe. He talked calmly and replied to everyone, but still conveyed to everyone that when he got home he was going to do the deed.

He was appreciative of the support, but he was steadfast.

There was a follow up post under his account a couple days later of his brother thanking everyone for their support, but that his brother had, indeed, taken his own life. He left a note, and within the note was a mention of the redditors speaking compassionately to him, so his brother wanted to thank the thread.

It broke my heart to read that, having lost four friends (battles) to suicide, and not being there for them.
