Does anyone have the links, story behind the Roy Williams draft rumor floated out there back in what was it - 2002?

That he intended on only playing 5 years and his heart was not into football. That he was doing it because he was gifted and could make the $.

Well it's year 6 and a new big contract and Roy's play is disinterested this year.

Honestly-I find it hard to believe even something like this would make the "scouting report".

BTW-he stunk it up real bad in year's 4 and 5 as well.:bang2:

well shucks....maybe ed reed would have been a better choice....

That is going too far back to provide a link and frankly Roy is not worth the research.

Please go back and provide a link? I would like to see where this was said.

I have followed Roy through college and now here. I have read everything about him. I have never heard of anything even remotely close to this crap Nors is spewing.

Of course..Nors can't prove crap. He is just throwing it up here to see if it sticks.

Seems he has some takers.

I don't have a link, but I remember reading it at the time

I also remember it...but my concern was overshadowed by our draft day gymnastics (our near passing... trade down...Minnesota passing, etc.)

I thought I remember him saying,he only intented to play 6-8 years

cant remember if he gave any reasons

this will be merged;)

I remember it as well but I don't think the archives for the old site are readily availible or we'd be able to get to it pretty easy.

I've read it, but only on here, and nothing in any article. Doesn't mean he didn't say it, just that I haven't seen it in anything published or posted on here.

If I produce the quote, what good would it do in the discussions about Roy? We already know he is coming back in 2008 and will be wearing #38 instead of 31.

I just would like to know what the purpose is before I do it. I may decide not to.

I remember reading a quote that had him saying that, when he didn't have to, he didn't think about football.

I recall some folks discussing this before we drafted him. But I am with you. I never read any media outlet discussing it at all.

That's why I am so curious for some solid proof, and not someone just saying Roy said.

How on earth could a person say the things suggested and be such a highly regarded saftey coming into the draft.

I would never take anyone that high in rnd 1 if they said they only wanted to play 5 years. That's just cutting your own throat $$ wise. Talk about falling down the board.

Honestly, I've never seen this or heard of it before.

I would like to see it out of sheer curiosity.

Not a quote from a poster who heard or someone told. We want a solid media outlet stating that RW only wants to play 5 yrs of pro ball.

If you can't bring that, I would not bother with it.

I remember it -- he did say it. Talked about how on Sundays, he'd rather watch a movie than a football game.

I don't remember anything about "I only want the $" like Nors' post said, though.

The search function on the old archives isn't working tonight. I'll keep trying.
