Leary wasn't the Cowboys property. He was a free agent, and chose to go elsewhere.

JJ thought Collins was the cheaper option. But I think JJ over paid for him. Without knowing the exact contract break down it looks like Leary would have been 2 million more a year to keep with a little more investment into Leary, two vs four years.

No, the boys thought Collins was the BETTER option. Younger and healthier with more upside.

Well look at Collins now. From my understanding he didn't do to well. Also Leary is still young he just have a knee condition. But he played majority of his games for us. I know he has another 3 to 4 years left. Collins on the other hand miss a whole season. Right now this oline is crack with 2 points of weakness at RT and OG.

They have more options at Guard than at Tackle. Leary couldn't play Tackle.

The mistake was back in 2015 when they kept Free at 5M per instead of Parnell at 6.4M per. Parnell was better then and Free's decline should have been expected due to age and having played drastically more snaps in his career than Parnell.

It sucks that Green can't stay healthy because that is clearly our best lineup.
