I would not rule out Colombo just yet. He is still not physically back to where he was before his injury as regards strength, etc. And he really only has aabout 25 starts total. He is still learning. I think he will improve quite a bit.

Was Colombo's contract 2 years? My guess is he'll play through 2008, and then leave via FA. Maybe he'll get the money he wants, maybe not.

But this is the year to get some reps on for the young OT's to prepare them to start by 2008-2009.

Not sure how many quality snaps Free and Marten will get this season;, but if they can come in and do well-enough in a few games, it should pay off in health dividends for the rest of the starting OL throughout the season. * :crossed: between now and the regular season *

Wouldn't surprise me if LD moves to the left side with Free, and Marten moves inside, while keeping Columbo.

I really could see this being the starting OL in 2008. Especially if Marten and Free put on a little weight and strength respectively.

I really like Marc Colombo - look at his size! Even compared to those other guys, he is physically superior IF he is fully rehabbed. And he never got a lot of playing time before last season - he will be much improved this year, IMO. The guy is a physical freak and has all the attitude he needs to become a dominant player. In the '08 roster his name is in ink - whether we choose to keep Adams on is another matter. Can Jerry say "franchise tag?"
