i thought hed have a better report then this... http://www.nfldraftcountdown.com/scoutingreports/qb/omarjacobs.html i know he only played 2 seasons but he looked good. i also thought he was faster. and i didnt know he couldnt throw the long ball? soi thought later round. like 2nd what do you think

Don't let the report fool you, he's the real deal. There isn't a player on the team besides him that would be drafted, yet he puts up good numbers. He missed considerable playing time this year, yet threw 26 tds. Contrast the fact that Jay Cutler is being considered as a top 20 guy, yet doesn't have nearly as good numbers. Sure Cutler plays in the SEC, a tougher conference, but other MAC qb's have made the transition and Jacobs ripped apart both OU and Wisconsin when he played them. Jacobs is also from Florida where they have a highly developed prep program. We would be crazy to pass this guy up.

What does QC have to do with Omar Jacobs?

As far as the teams that didn't bring him, Mooch got fired, Turner got fired, Herm Edwards team didn't make the playoffs and he ran away. Dom Capers got fired. Chicago has no qb and Tampa got beat at home by the Skins who had no offense because Chris Simms had no playoff experience. I think the joke is on them.

I hope you don't want to take him in the first Kartr. That would be insane.

Here's my scouting report on Omar:

never be an NFL starter
Will take several years before he can be an effective backup
played at a crummy school, against crummy competition, put up some numbers...sometimes...sometimes looked BAD against BAD competition
wasted pick

my scouting report:
possible NFL starter.
Good decision maker, will have to take 2-3 years to learn the offense. Could be a potential McNabb type guy in the right situation.
Worst case scenario he is a good backup.

He's a better QB than you jacks think..if he's there in the 2nd round or later Dallas would be foolish not to draft him.

Height: 6-4

Weight: 225

40-Yard Dash: 4.73

Positives: Drew Henson has great size and arm strength. He throws a good deep ball, and shows accuracy on the short-to-intermediate routes. He has good mechanics and a nice quick delivery, also throwing well on the run. He has decent mobility, although not a scrambler, and can buy time by moving around in the pocket or rolling out. Also shows good backside awareness while reading the defense.

Henson also possesses the mental skills to succeed in the NFL. He is intelligent and confident. He's not afraid to take a leadership role on and off the field, and he rarely gets rattled. He's not afraid to take a shot for the team, yet he's never been knocked out of a game.

Negatives: As a minor league prospect of the New York Yankees, he has been out of football completely for a couple years and may need some time to shake off the rust. He tends to lock onto his primary receiver at times. He is also a little inexperienced, starting just eight games at Michigan.

Here is a scouting report for Drew Henson. As I read it, it looks very much like Jacobs IMO. My question would be, why would Parcells consider drafting the same player to a contract if he's already got somebody like that? I like Cutler much better but he too has some warts. He's a Brett Favre type with lots of injuries. I don't see Parcells drafting a QB like that either. Doesn't fit his offensive style of play. Whitehurst is the guy that sounds like Parcells QB to me. He's practically a Drew Henson Clone.

Lets just say I don't exactly think too highly of your opinion on QBs.

And I enjoy the inevitable backlash of QC defense.....

Omar Jacobs 6-3 225 Bowling green

Junior - fine athlete, tough mentally and smarts to run an offense. Quick delivery and accuracy. Can deliver the ball down the field with Velocity and accuracy.

Nice 4th rounder type who may go higher on Mac Hype of Late.

Want a sleeper!

Kent Smith - Central Michigan! 6-5 225 Big tough stay in the pocket QB with all the physical tools. Compared to Bledsoe.

I don't think he's that big but I have not seen him play. Small school, would like to see him start more then just 2 seasons, especially considering the talent level but you never know.

Here's another scouting report on Jacobs I was interested until I read the very last line on the worst case...Heck I had my doubts on the best case (I'm anti McNabb)

Omar may be known for being a multi-talented and athletic QB, but first and foremost, he's an excellent and extremely accurate passer. In the recent tradition of MAC QBs, Jacobs has come out of nowhere to have a huge season and become a top 15 prospect. He has the size of the typical MAC superstar like Leftwich or Rothlisberger, and has Leftwich's accuracy and Rothlisberger's poise. There is no denying his 41 TDs versus 4 picks is amazing regardless of the competition. He's not in the bruiser-class of Culpepper, but he's certainly a big mobile guy, possibly more like McNabb with his combo of size, athleticism, strength and most importantly, passing skills.

Strengths:
• Accuracy
• Athleticism
• Strength
• Arm strength
• Ability to read coverage
• Size

Weaknesses:
• Level of competition
• Experience (only one year as a starter)
• Overconfidence when scrambling

Best Case Scenario:
Donovan McNabb

Worst Case Scenario:
Quincy Carter

because Jacobs didnt quit football to play baseball like Henson. henson is obviously a baseball player who was forced into football. I don't see him ever starting. Jacobs is a football player through and through. he doesnt have to readjust to football, and he doesnt have another sport that he wishes he was playing like Henson. Plus Jacobs has more college experience, and actually has had a complete year with great stats.
There are a lot of things different.

Really, such as? I will give you your point on Henson playing baseball and Jacobs playing nothing but football but still, Henson was a much better college QB prospect then Jacobs. There is no doubt in my mind about that. We have an investment in Henson and it's a very friendly contract. Jacobs and Henson bring much the same thing to the table. I just don't see us drafting another QB who is very much like one we already have.

same reason we passed on jake delhomme because we had a similar guy in clint stoerner according to our coaches and scouts: insanity

Interesting point but to me, any scout who looks at Delhomme and sees Stoerner is in need of serious medication.

Henson and Jacobs, to me, do have very simular skill sets. Almost exactly the same height and weight. Simular agility and speed. Strengths and weaknesses.

Based on what? At the time, Pro Scouts did not share this opinion. Please provide any credible evidence that would support your statement or just add IMO to your last post.

And you saw how many games Henson played? You saw how many games Omar Jacobs played? Or you just talking based on what you read now?

I have seen entire college career of Henson pretty much, since I am Michigan fan. I have see couple of games that Omar Jacobs played. One game he looked like a First round pick, on other one, best case 2nd or 3rd rounder. Not exactly consistant, plus he has pretty funky delivery, reminded me of Vince Young, just that Jacobs is more classical High arm, instead for Side arm for Vince. I.e. both do like flick of the ball instead of putting some mustard in the ball, and both don't seem to be that great at throwing Long Balls.
