Carpenter looked solid. I wish he'd stayed in control on that blitz and taken Kitna down, but I'm confident that with a REAL defensive coordinator coaching him next season - hopefully - he'll make that play on a regular basis next season.

And Carp's pass rush hasn't been too shabby either.

Yeah, our BUST seems to be developing. (not as good as Jessica Simpson, but we will take what we can get).

I would agree Rack, Carpenter is starting to come around.

A near pick, a near sack..........good to see him the flow of a game. Now start making those 'nears' into big plays.

Seen Santonio win it for the Squealers yesterday...Mangold holding his own for the Jets...hard to go wrong on those Buckeyes I tell ya.:D (unless your name is Clarett)

On the bright side,I asked yesterday what effect this loss would have on the schedule for next year, and the draft position. I don't believe the schedule was affected, and that a win would have made a difference in who we play, but a win would have put is drafting 3 or 4 spots further down the board.....A small point, but who knows what those three or four places could possibly mean to us in the future? The only real positive I see out of a win yesterday would be the momentum factor, but who is to say that this distasteful loss won't have a stronger positive effect;i.e.,makes this team more pizzed off,and possibly puts a little overconfidence in the head of one Mike Holmgren and the Seahawks? Stay tuned!!

Yup. Draft order means something. The chance to pick a couple of spots earlier each round means more to the future of this franchise than a 10-6 (vs. a 9-7) record.

Given how this team is playing, I'd rather have a 1st round road playoff game and a somewhat more favorable drafting position than a 1st round home playoff game and a somewhat less favorable drafting position.

That's the only saving grace in all this... the 22nd pick.

Pretty much.

I guess another plus is that Jerry Jones, his son, and (if he stays around) Parcells, are getting a healthy dose of reality.

Let's not forget that on the same play that Carpenter missed the sack, DWare had a 2nd easy shot and was faked out by the QB and also missed the sack.

And how many dropped ints did we have yesterday? Does ole' Zimmer ever put these guys in front of the ball machine?

And when did Kitna become a scrammbler?

It is weird how we sacked him 4 (?) times, should of had 2 or 3 more, yet our pass rush still managed to look horrible (overall) in that game.

Agreed. He looks good playing in the middle of the field. His speed and size is much better used there. He has no business at LOLB in the 3-4, though.

Ideal scenario: Ellis is healthy next year and Carpenter sends James packing (to the bench).

I wouldn't mind seeing Carp at ILB, but he played OLB yesterday too, and looked solid when he did it.

True Williams' drop cost us three points. Henry and Carpenter also dropped INTs.

He played OLB in the 4-3, which is when he had most of his good plays. If we're in the 3-4 next year the equivalent position would be ILB, of course.

Let's have a Carp at 3-4 OLB debate just to get our minds off of how the defense completely sucks. I'll start...

Carp is a solid 3-4 OLB and has the physical skills to be a very good 3-4 OLB.

Now you.

Ok, my turn.

Carp doesn't have the size or strenth to play 3-4 LOLB.

Well, that gets us nowhere.

:D

I do think he could be a stud ILB in the 3-4 or an OLB in the 4-3. Well, if not a stud, he could be better than James, at the very least.

Yeah at least we'd have an ILB with the speed to get out in the flats. :D

I wouldn't mind having him at ILB and drafting another "tweener" to replace Ellis in a year or two. We could probably get one in the 3rd or 4th round.
