didn't see this posted (looked on first and second pages), but I couldn't help but laugh:

Lions waived QB Drew Henson.

It may be the end of the line for the former golden boy. The Lions are now down to three quarterbacks, and it's believed they are interested in acquiring a veteran. John Beck could be an option after he was waived by the Dolphins Monday.

I can't believe management thought he could come in and be a starting QB. :lmao2:

I guess Henson may as well hang it up for good. It's sad, really, but at least he got paid. I hope he has a nice life.

Well, if he's smart between the millions he's pocketed from the Yankees, Texans, Cowboys, Vikings and Lions he has a nest egg to invest.
He'll always be an answer to a trivia question, who started ahead of Tom Brady at Michigan.

Was it Ron Wolfe who said he was not just a pro-bowl qb, but was a super bowl qb? Not a brilliant entry on a shining resume... :(

I bet he could be Quincy's backup in Arena Football III or whatever it is...:p:

How Henson has been able to leech a money from the NFL for this long is beyond me.

Too bad. Something must be wrong between the ears. Kid had unreal talent at Michigan.

Best thing he ever did was play in NFL-E. I seem to remember even there he wasn't the best QB stat-wise, there was a kid playing for the Eagles at the time who outperformed him that year in NFL-E. I was paying attention to the stats at the time because he was still with us and the plan was he'd light up the league after that year in Europe. Didn't quite pan out, then Romo came out of ubscurity that year.

He must have hit the ceiling of talent very early on, and just sort of milked it out, I dunno.

I predict a CFL or AF2 team in his future.

Oh yeah there'll always be a professional level league for the guy, he'll just be making hundreds per game instead of tens of thousands lol.

You can't take 3 or 4 years off from the game of football and expect to be able to make the jump to the NFL when you return. Especially when most of that time was critical developmental years.

Henson was still learning what it took to be a top notch college QB when he walked away from football to pursue baseball. Those were wasted years as far as his development to playing QB. He would have had a tough time coming back and being a good college QB much less a good NFL QB.

It makes what Roger Staubach did even more outstanding. Staubach beat the odds. He was not only able to come back and play, but came back and excelled. And Henson was not near as good a college QB as Staubach was, so it is not that surprising that it didn't work.

That is why I was never impressed with Chad Hutchinson who also faced the same situation. He was never a good college QB to start with, so how could he take time off and be expected to be a good NFL QB.

After all my rambling I guess my point is that there probably isn't something lacking between Henson's ears. It is just a tough task to do what he was trying to do. Staubach just had something great going on between his ears to accomplish what he did. I doubt very many QBs could take Staubach's route to the NFL and have half the success.

This is where you end up when youcant hit the curveball and bounce throws to your tight end. Would not be suprised to see him trying out as 3rd QB in some camp this summer.

Roger Staubach and Chad Hennings did it.

Like I said, something is wrong between the ears for him. Physically, he had all the tools. Waived this many times tell me he's fighting the coaching on what they want him to do.

I wouldn't mind that life, already be a millionaire and play football on someone's practice squad, then go home to a millionaire house at the end of the day

Started ahead of Brady in college and was in front of Romo on the depth chart in the pros for how many years?

Yeah, I totally agree. I think it is too much to ask a guy to miss so much time during his formative years and then excel at the NFL level.

Just look at how many guys can't do it after 4 full years in college.

I was reading up on Tom Brady and I guess he was really stressed out during that QB competition with Drew Henson, to the point where he actually went out and looked for a sports psychologist to help him sort out the stress and anxiety.

I guess we know who really bested who there, eh? :lmao2: Maybe the shrink works afterall :lmao2:
