For all of ya'll that are expecting Stephen to hire a GM,you're going to be sadly disappointed. He's going to be the GM.Now he might hire a stronger head coach then Jerry.

Guys, it's exactly like the movie Inception. We need to go 3 layers deep into Stephens dreams, and plant the idea in his head to give up his father's empire. We'll need a team of 6, I'm one, so 5 more. Where's Leonardo Dicaprio?

I'll be Ariadne and design the levels. They'll be pretty intimidating with lots of waterslides and fortresses made of nanaimo bars.

This hits it. No change in how we do business, just a different face on the punching bag.

I can see Jerry throwing his brain into a robot or something when his body goes. A robo-GM, be quite a show, solid entertainment for your discriminating dollar!

It doesn't matter. Stephen wouldn't know how to recruit the right GM, or how to evaluate that GM's work.

People keep saying that, but nobody can ever produce a direct quote.

I know I'd like to see it.

Until I do, I recognize him as basically nothing but a younger version of his father, who is ruining this franchise.

I heard him say it, interview on Dallas radio. On the Ticket, IIRC, but it was probably 6-8 years ago, or even longer. But I know for a fact he said it because I heard him.

Notwithstanding, I don't believe for a second he will do that unless finances dictate that he does.

I read somewhere in the past the Stephen would hire a GM once he is the active owner, sorry , but I can't recall where I saw that.

That was more than 15 years ago.

He's already shown that he enjoys the hands on approach to running this team.

Stephen will be just as invasive as his father.

no a chance
stephen is learning from the best shyster in the business

i would give you better odds on expecting honesty from the son of a used car salesman than this

basically, the best way to think of jerry and stephen is to think of drug addicts
being in the limelight with this franchise is like a drug high, no way these guys give it up once they have experienced it

they will need to hit real rock bottom like a drug addict agreeing to go through drug rehab

expecting rational thought from either of them on this issue is not reasonable

What's it going to be then, eh?

It had to have been much longer than you recall.

If you said you heard it great...but it is approaching urban legend status as he has had plenty of opportunities to firmly establish his intentions.

All in all his more recent comments are just like dear old dad.

Why people are banking on him being less obtuse and more sane escapes me.

Stephen Jones will take over full GM Duties, he is already doing 1/2 as it is now.

And I want him to be the GM as well, I think Stephen will be fine.

We're reduced to fantasizing about the demise of the owner. I suppose that's all one needs to now to get a sense of the state of this team.

I would imagine a good # of Raider fans were doing the same for many years......

Everyone here is going to die before JJ.

well..

for sure everybody on the team is going to die before Jerrah moves aside..

..and Stephen to me looks hamstrung like the rest of the players on this team.

..In 50 years of watching this team I've never seen so many hammy injuries..

..something is wrong at the grassroots level even there.

But I think until the organization steps back again like they tried with Parcells..

..and they overhaul it all from the scouting to the drafting with an organizational standard.again..

..its all going to be fruitless.

This little slice of delusion is in his bio on the team site:

"With 19 years of NFL experience, Stephen Jones has established himself as one of the brightest and most versatile young executives in professional sports."

That sound to anyone like a guy ready to just sit in the box and sign checks?

Stephen obviously will be next man up once Jerry is planted. Will he hire a true GM? Something I've thought about this week as there has been all kinds of talk about Jerry as a failure in the GM role. I may be wrong here, but Stephen doesnt seem to be even half the man that Jerry is when it comes to energy and being able to juggle so many balls in different roles.

Why do Papa Doc Duvalier and his son, Baby Doc come to mind when I read this? We'd only be trading one ruthless dictator for an even worse one. :D
