There is no guarantee of a comp if he goes elsewhere. Comps are awarded based on your net signings and losses.

A trade yields an automatic pick. Not the same as maybe getting a comp.

That said, a 6th is a pretty low value pick. Often a guy you like in the 6th ends up a UDFA. I'd not budge unless it's a 4th or a contributing player

A comp 6th round pick is really a 7th round pick because it is after all the normal 6th rounders and 3rd-5th comp picks have been picked....plus it is awarded a year later, so that lowers it's value even more....

Isn't the rule of 51 just for the offseason and they go by all salaries once the season starts?

That's interesting. His predraft write-up indicates that he has the versatility to possibly play all 5 OL positions. Just needed to work on getting stronger. But I'd definitely rather see him excel at RT than kick inside and essentially be the 3rd-4th OG.

Besides, didn't we sign Looney to be that trusted backup vet OG/OC on gameday? Granted he's probably not as good as Leary but hopefully at least similar to Bernadeau.

But back to Green. I guess we'll find out once we see where he gets reps in training camp and preseason.

Versatility is great bUT do not have a lot of confidence in an OL that needs to gain strength to play strong side OT.

We won't get a comp for Leary as he was undrafted. Sorry ... no comp picks for Leary. We either move him now for a pick or lose him next year for nothing.
