I thoroughly believe he values what it means to be the coach of the Cowboys. I don't believe any coach since Landry truly understood what that means. Johnson was a great coach, but he didn't truly value it like Garrett. I'm not saying it makes him a good coach. In my opinion, he's not. I do think he started out trying to instill the pride of being a Cowboy in his players, but he's failed or given up trying.

Say what you want about him, the man truly understands what it means to be a Cowboy.
You serious bro?

There's some truth to the original post. But he has not shown me his willingness to accept blame. In all of his years it's always seemed that we had to jettison a player because they were the problem. Not him. That has always stung me.

Garrett is the new whipping boy for the Dak Zoids here as Dez was and Chaz etc etc.....I'll say it again and again working for Jerry Jones is not a easy task......with a GOOD QB back there we would be 6-2 at least now and smiling and even saying Garrett is a good coach etc etc ...instead we're Dak-Dead once again....like last season.....remember ????
It started long before Dak was drafted..........catch up on your Cowboys

Some will mock you for saying this because some feel an odd need to hold a personal grudge against Garrett, but there is no reason at all to believe Garrett isn't a good guy who works hard and takes pride in being a Cowboy. As you said, that doesn't make him a good coach, but that's a separate issue from what you are talking about.

Ask Garrett how it feels to be one of the worst and least respected coaches in Cowboys history. It's going to take this team years to recover from what he's done here...But as long as Jerry is calling the shots, the next guy won't be any better...

I know what you're saying, OP, and I agree. As inept as he is at the job, he feels the awe and pride of walking in the footsteps of Landry and Johnson.

That said, he's making it something to be less proud of for everyone who follows

I agree, but Jones has done more to tarnish the star than anyone. It started with his shameful treatment of a Cowboy legend and has gotten progressively worse.

It saddens me. Younger fans probably will never feel how it felt to be a Cowboy fan before Jones.

lol. Jason Garrett isn't even original. Dave Campo was clapping long before he came to town.

Well, as much as I was angry when Landry got canned, you can't really blame it on Jerry. That was the deal for anyone to buy the franchise.

Pretty sure Tom Landry wasn't yukking it up with celebrities at the World Series in the middle of a losing season, only to return from a bye and get drubbed at home

You mean he truly understands what it is to be mediocre? To run a Country Club type atmosphere? To be cocky and entitled when you havent earned anything? To have no accountability?

Yep, he sure knows what it is to be a Cowboy!!!! Go Cowboys!!!
