Purdy hasn't seen a great defense. He's about to be baptized.

He's probably been told to try not to get hurt.

You want to get Diggs hurt? And see what happens?
I think he is banged up AND he has been told to avoid sticking his nose in there. That being said...the 49ers saw the tape...and they will try to exploit that....so I hope Dallas has plan to counteract them attacking Diggs. 49ers are great at run after catch. I would not play off them and let them catch the ball thinking you are going to get them to the ground. I would play up and force Purdy to make throws into tight windows.

I would put Parsons on Kittle, he matches up with speed and strength. Now I say that, realizing that other players have to step up in the pass rush to make this work. Also, I've not seen Parsons in coverage, so that is a bit of an unknown. But knowing that Parsons has ridiculous speed for his size, it would be something to consider if Kittle starts carving up the secondary.
Stop.

Mr. Business decision Diggs?
many HOF dbs have this same mentality, part fo the game. they are Cbs because they arent LBs or safety's..some tackle better then others but sometimes that just who they are.,. Sanders is one, 21 coined that term BTW..

Dallas should expect that the 9ers will bounce running plays to the outside, and block everyone except Diggs, and repeat that formula constantly. Diggs will have to change his tackling mentality for Sunday, or the defense will get gashed in the running game.
Or the others will have to hold the edge
They attack with their backs in the run game and passing game

Kearse covered Goedert in the win over the Eagles.

Even when everybody else played zone, Kearse would line up in press vs Goedert.

Parsons has played a very small number of snaps in coverage this season.

I hope that’s what they try to do

If the NFL is becoming a positionless "speed in space" game, the Niners' philosophy is like "physicality in space." Every single guy on their offense will block you, and every one of their skill players runs hard like a halfback after the catch. They won't just attack Diggs, they will attack everyone.

The Cowboys DL and underneath defenders showed me last week that they can be physical and won't back down. But I am worried about a lack of size there if Shanahan just wants to try and run them over (like last year). And on the back end, I haven't seen a lot of tough football from any of those guys. Diggs is known to play soft, but I haven't seen Bland or Hooker really get physical with guys either.
ive seen Bland come up hard and heavy more than once..BUT most cbs are not great form tacklers and shy away from being that headhunter type.21 started the business decision deal and to an extent IDC, make an effort sure get hurt and now we are down our best corner, umm hell NO! this is being overblown our saftys and LBs need to come in support no matter what, this isn't a one payer defense, gong tackling always best so hope lie we saw in many clips you had Kearse and Wilson come up and help..

as it should be, dude should be in the box as much as possible making tackles on RBs and QBs period, his job is to cause havoc and i could care less if he ever covered anyone.

Cornerbacks have to tackle occasionally no matter the scheme.
If you are unwilling and your hurting the defense you should have gone into baseball or basketball or some other non contact sport.
I agree, if he has something wrong that's preventing him from performing his job including tackling, then he's doing more harm than good by trying to bluff his way through, 49ers will pick up on it if they haven't already and take advantage of it.

Diggs wanted no part of Mike Evans.

Evans is 6'5" and 235. There isn't a corner in the NFL that can consistently tackle him. The guy is a moose. Having said that, Diggs needs to hit the weight room in the offseason because he's too soft out there.

Dude you do not take one of the best pass rushers in the league and turn him into an oversized cornerback. Guys who know how to run routes, how to lean their weight into you and cut off it will abuse someone not used to playing coverage like nobody's business. The best use of Parsons in a game like this is have him be a heat seeking missile in the 49ers backfield.
Yep, just doesn't work out. Best use is what he does best.

He needs to apply more effort than he did. Deebo may not be as big but he’s more physical than Evans. He’ll steam roll Diggs if he attempts to just get in his way to knock him off his feet.

Short passes as an extension of their run game to Deebo and McCaffrey
Tell ya one thing along this line: If we play those soft cushions, the backs in the flat and on wheel routes will have a field day.

For sure.
Maybe he's hurt and trying to protect himself?

We must be watching different games. Diggs is the 4th leading tackler for the Cowboys this season with 50. He averages 3 solo tackles a game and we really don't want more than that for a cornerback.

In Digg's rookie season he had the 2nd most solo tackles with 49 and last season he had 43 to go along with his 11 INT's.

I'll be looking for it. Makes sense. Our DBs play so far off of the LOS it kills me. Diggs is going to have to get dirty this week. Its time to leave that pretty boy play alone. Man up and make a tackle son!
