9 collective years as Cowboys for those 5 guys....

19.5 sacks total for the 5 of them over that duration which equates to an average 2.16 sacks per player per season.
Has there ever been a team that has stuck out more on one position group than we have with defensive ends?

Irving
Hardy
Gregory
Lawrence
Tapper

Where does it end?

Damontre Moore is happier by the day he signed with this team

2- 2nds and a 4th........not a ton of investment for DEs

if you think Irving is a bust you are blind or stupid
DLaw performed when healthy....injuries happen and he should be a solid rotation guy this year
Tapper is a promising talent that everyone raved about last camp

and we have 9 years of cheap control left

it is 20.5 for 62 games played............... that is actually 5 sacks a year, which isn't bad

Yeah, it is. And of those "20", 6 of them came from Hardy, a guy who will never play here or anywhere else, again.

Can't shine ****. This is an argument that won't be won.

I didn't call anybody a bust or comment on any player in a positive or negative way. I just thought I'd look up the sacks output of those 5 guys in their tenure as Cowboys and post what I found.

I'm sorry that you feel that admitting the truth is being a "Negative Nancy".

But, for the record, I have optimism for future potential as well.

If some guys like Tapper, Damontre Moore and Charlton can add to what the team got last year, there's potential to be pretty good.

The press conference tells me Jerry is still the biggest obstacle the Cowboys have to overcome.

As much as we want to believe Stephen and Garrett are building a greater team this is still Jerry's culture which is perhaps one of the greatest handicaps not only in Cowboys history but the NFL.

Anything we accomplish as a team on the field will be inspite of Jerry not because of anything he's contributed. Jerry continues to smash any optimism and hope Jason is creating.

Jerry is in rare form, even for him. He's barely come up for air.
That absolutely has to be the most underwhelming opening press conference I have witnessed in years. And then to see the majority of it centered around the maturity of Zeke was nauseating. I couldn't even finish it. I kept hoping Garrett would do one of his infamous chop downs where he said something to the effect, "We are here to discuss football. If you have football related question, I'll be happy to field them. As for questions relating to situations we are dealing with in-house, we have said everything we have to say on that topic." But no, they kept on answering them like they had to. Super annoying and it rendered what is normally very entertaining, unwatchable.

Tapper is Matt Johnson 2.0. I'll be surprised if he makes it to week 1.

Matt Johnson - Eastern Washington

Charles Tapper - Oklahoma

I understand they are both physically gifted, but that really seems to be the only similarity they share.

How are they alike? Or are you just being pessimistic?

just tired of all the so called stars that flash promise but never back it up.

Spencer comes to mind; how many years did we hope he would finally 'break out'?

Lawrence frankly did not show much even when healthy. Sadly Gregory showed the most but realistically he is done.
Irving- more hope then fire. And what about his suspension? was that a one off or was he just caught?

We need about 4 players that can get us 8 sacks or so a season or two that can get us 12+ sacks a season. There is no one here right now that shows promise of double digit sacks; and only a couple that MIGHT get us 8 sacks a season.

Still by committee. Nothing has changed. You just have strong members to affect Jerry.
