Opinion: Flozell to LG

Than just keep Flo on the bench cause with Flo over Free, you also eliminate a lot of plays.

It would be better for Cowboys just to cut Flozell and just sign Marcus McNeil being that it is a no-capped year and players can be replaced being that they have the 8 team rule in effect. Cut Roy Williams and get Brandon Marshall and re-sign Austin. Cut Kosier and get a guard to replace him. He was getting tossed like a rag doll by Pat Williams. Cut Barber and replace him with L.T. Fans how you like that?;)

that STILL hurts...thought going into the draft we would grab this guy...he even fell to the 2nd round...I believe we grabbed Fasano a couple of spots after McNeil went off the board....we could have grabbed him if we wanted him...but there were concerns about his back.

Flo was a starting guard for us his 1st couple of seasons before being moved to tackle.

That was over 10 yrs and several knee injuries ago.

My god are all the threads this stupid during the offseason? We want to move the best left tackle in the NFC East to Guard? Wow!!

Hey I think we should move Crayton to QB. He played it in college after all.

There is absolutely no way, at all, that Flo could move well enough, quick enough, to pull and play the LG position with his limited mobility.

And Free maybe able to do really well at LT if he got all the practice reps and such there, I don't know about that or anything, but he sure didn't do very well Sunday.

Now that is without any practice there so I'll reserve my thoughts on what he can do there until he's able to practice it and get to do it that way.

True and that can have a bigger affect on tackle than guard depending on the blocking schemes you are running. I just don’t think this is an option that should be dismissed

all of you people saying no way are forgetting one thing. Doug Free needs to start on this OL NEXT YEAR. Free is going to be a BETTER LT than RT. We can NOT keep putting this off. Flozell is under contract and can still play. Colombo is under contract and can still play. I believe Kosier is a free agent. Free needs to play NOW. Many OTs move to Gs near the end of their careers.

I think it will be interesting to see how Brewster falls into this mix.

Pick Analysis: The Cowboys pick up a hulking interior prospect with the selection of Brewster. Though he spent his college career as an offensive tackle, Brewster will likely move inside to guard for the Cowboys.

does not answer what to do with Free next year

I would really welcome that move but understand would be for one year. Jerry isn't gonna pay Flo all that dough to play LG.

No chance I take Flozell over Jason Peters. Peters picked it up at the end of the year, he's young and has more upside. Flozell is on a downward spiral.

Actually, I think Brewster was being tried at RT first.

I honestly think this approach is increasingly to blame for why we haven't hit on a ton of OL picks. It seems like we are always looking to guys to play T and then, if they can't, moving them inside. When was the last time we drafted a true interior lineman?

Flo will be heading into his 13th next year how many more years is there? :laugh2:

That is the one thing we do not know at what point may Flo choose to hang it up? Is he thinking about this now?

I suggested this few weeks back when everyone was on a hate Flo movement. I think he can play guard better than tackle at this point in his career.

I hear ya there and that's why I back the move.

Get experience for Free at LT but plug in a big mauler in Flo next to him.

I know this: Neither Williams boy pushes Flo back into the QB. Flo idolized Larry Allen and I bet dollars to doughnuts he'd move over to LG if approached properly.

Remove the need for Flo to battle in space and he could last another 3 or 4 years but I don't know if Jerry wants to pay him all that jack to do so or if Flo wants to bother with football for half what he makes now playing inside.

I believe Flo would be the best LG in football if he did play there.

Flo is far from perfect but he's been an anchor at LT for years. I don't think most fans realize how incredibly difficult the LT position is to fill.

As long as Flo can still move adequately he is better than most LTs.

You are correct. He is younger and has more upside , but right now Flozell is better. Doesn't mean Peters won't be better next year he probably will be but it still doesn't mean this thread isn't stupid.

I think it's pretty close with who's better right now. I know the Pro Bowl doesn't mean much, but Peters was selected in front of Flozell. We need to get younger on the OL rightt away. I want a 1st rounder and Free being our tackles next year.
