Opinion: Give Mr Parker a chance

Must see SOME improvement by mid-season.

Just some......
Id say there needs to be some by end of mini bye this week.

Don't think he'll be fired til end of season and not even sure then.

This team needs to stat committed to a modern nfl system a d continue to work to bring in guys who fit. Consistency will be key.

5 different DCs in 5 consecutive seasons would have to be some kind of record

I get that, but it's week five and there is not a thing this defense does well. Stop the run? No. Tackle? No. Rush the passer? No. Cover well? No. Force turnovers? No. Make redzone stops? No. Force three and outs? No.

There is nothing to build on, nothing to point to and call it a start in the right direction. Zero hope. This defense is like someone rounded up a bunch of random guys off the street, put helmets and shoulder pads on them, and said go stop Bucky Irving.

In the finance world (not sure about other sectors of the workforce out there) you meet each month with your manager, and if you aren’t putting up numbers like you should, you will be given a warning and put on probation. So after 1 month if not showing what you should be, by the 2nd month you could be gone. Seen a lot in 31 years in the business. Seen people let go in 2 weeks.

I see LB not trusting their reads, DL not taking up blockers and a confused secondary. So where is the coaching? I thought things we going to change…

Shirley you folks didn't start a new position and set the world on fire first few weeks.

Good lawd

Go Cowboys!

TC, preseason, and 5 weeks of games. We have given him a chance.

Good lawd, this D is beyond awful.

Exactly what are you proposing?

The fundamentals have nothing to do with a new coach. It’s culture. The penalties and errors have nothing to do with a “new system”.

Marvin Lewis said the reason for the penalties on defense are largely attributed to getting away with them in practice. I think Lewis knows a thing or two about defenses.
Through five games the Cowboys have 34 penalties.

Thats 20th in the league and by the time the Falcons, Chiefs and Bills play their fifth game, the Cowboys will likely be 24th.

So, are you saying that’s a reflection of a culture?

:)

CP can’t force the defense to play with physicality. They had over 10+ missed tackles on Thursday night. Can’t blame that on the coach.

It’s something wrong with Bland. Dude has no footing out here. He also getting shook out his cleats like they playing basketball out here or he’s always slipping and falling. I’ve never seen a. Corner ack falling so much. I think it’s something wrong with the foot that he’s not letting anybody know ability. Because he can’t plant and push off at all without falling or losing balance.

Rashard Gary was suppose to bring a level of physicality to the run defense and this dude refuse to stay discipline on setting the edge. He constantly cheats inside and gets burned. CP has a lot to proved but he’s being compromised by his high paid vets out there

We were warned to remain patient, with CP. That 4th and 21 conversion was disgusting. I thought we were done with that nonsense. Its not like it was young Aron Rogers converting that. More of the same. Me aint no doctor, but im loosing me patients-popeye

No choice: give Parker a chance.

Hes not going anywhere so yeah, I guess I will give him a chance.
Yup. There is nothing but done but to ride out the storm.

Will this D improve with the return of some injured players?

Will guys settle in and acclimate to the scheme?

Will Parker make some adjustments and improve as the year goes on?

Will Jerry make a desperate trade for a splash player to help?

There is an outside chance we see some improvement in the D. If we don’t, then I think he has to be fired. I understand fixing this D will take some time, but we are not asking for or expecting the 85 Bears.

Is it too much to ask that guys line up correctly, understand their assignment, and tackle effectively? It shouldn’t take years to get guys to show up and play with grit and toughness.

I don’t know what Parker has been doing with his time, but his defense is worse than last year’s and he has better players
