A. Would you rather our team take some chances and even though we might strike out every now and then, we are at least trying. Trading for Roy Williams, PacMan, and signing or resigning players such as TO, Barber, Romo, Witten, Flo, and Columbo to name a few. We only have 14 million under the cap and no 1st round pick. However, if players such as Flo or Columbo was out on the free agent market this year, due to the lack of quality tackles, they would be grossly overpaid. Point Im trying to make is were trying. Every move might not work out but at least were coming out swinging.
OR
B. Be a team like Philly who always lets their own walk away. They only really signed three high price free agents in the McNabb era and they are Samuel, Owens and Kearse if I remember correctly. The people they let walk are amazing Duce Staley, Troy Vincent, Al Harris, Bobby Taylor, Hugh Douglas, Jermei Trotter to name a few and soon to be added Brian Dawkins, Tra Thomas, John Runyan, and Lito Sheppard. Thats a core team right there of two eras. There is just no loyality on that team. So this leads me to my next point, today they opened up free agency with 48 million to spend and there isnt nobody to spend it on. Yeah, great job Philly way to save that money.(haha, I hate the Eagles)
For a team thats been to the championship game 5 of the last 10 seasons it befuddles me how their ownership never overspends to get over the hump. They wouldnt trade a 2nd for Tony Gonzlez this year because he makes too much money and they dont do the whole trading the draft picks thing. Imagine if Gonzelez was on that team they would of went to the Superbowl.
So, would you have Jerry Jones and his approach or Philly's approach. I know the Eagles went further in the playoffs then us over that time but fact of the matter is whether you finished 2nd or 32nd you still accomplished the same thing. Theres only one champion and theres never a good loss in the playoffs. In addition, Jerry at least gets us excited for upcoming seasons with the signings and trades I said earlier.(Owens, Pac, etc) Its something to look forward to. If it were flip flopped and Lurie was running this team we would come into this season minus Flo, Columbo, Owens, Pac(I know hes already gone), Canty, Roy Williams (would of never made the trade), Marion Barber(would of never resigned him for that type of money, they would be just fine with Choice and Jones) Henry, and Roy Williams(db). On top of this we would have 40 mil to spend and no one to spend it on. Theres would be just no excitement at all to me when you run your team that way. Like him or hate him Jerry Jones at least tries. He might not be right all the time but at least he takes a chance. opinions
