Opinions on R Crennel as a possible DC candidate?

A lot of names are being thrown around, including

promoting Campo or our DL coach

maybe Capers

but R Crennel is clearly comfortable with the 34 defense, and between Crennel and Campo, for example, I'd rather go with Crennel as he has more experience with the 34.

Didnt Clevland freaking blow on defense last year???

I am not to confident in Crennel, rather have Capers.

Crennel is having some physical problems so he's likely to take a year off.

I think that the Stewart move was made b/c Jerry wants to grab Capers before Garrett does.

Ahhh . . . . ok, that would make sense.

Pull a name out of a hat.

It has just as much likelihood.

Smart move, head Garrett off at the pass.

recall that we wanted to bring him in last year but Stewart asked him not to come (b/c he likely knew he'd get demoted mid-season if something went wrong)

People hated the Parcells defense when he was here. Yet now, they want to bring someone from that tree back...

aint it funny.

they also want us to be more conservative on offense.

and the sad part is, I think jerry feels and reacts to these types of situations the same way that group of fans does.

That's exactly what the Wade hire was about -- is our D really better? Not really. But it is a hell of a lot more fun to watch. That is the real difference between the two systems. If Wade's D is better it is really more about the development of players Bill brought in then anything else.

I think that is part of why wade was hired.

I think the real reason is, wade will allow jerry to do anything. Wade has no authority and he was ok with it from day one. Wade likes to be complimented and talked about nicely. Wade loves to have his career coaching record talked about because it is above .500, but he has a near coronary and has every excuse in the book when his playoff record is brought up.

When jerry hired wade at the pc, he spent alot of time talking about how at every new stop but one wade helped a team get to the playoffs in the first season, no matter how poor the team was the season before. Its something like 6 of 7 stops where wade helped put the team in the playoffs the first year.

Neither jerry nor wade like talking about what has happened to phillips teams after the first year.

So when you put it together, you see that jerry thought he was going to make a superbowl run with wade for a year or two and keep the then playoff team in 06 in the playoffs and then worry about the long term future of the team in the long term.......

well we made the playoffs in the first year under phillips. And now in the second year it looks like most of his other stops and wade has all the excuses for why it happened just like he did at every other stop.

when you operate in the short term you get long term problems, and once again we have long term problems.

but hey we are a family built around, as wade says, trust, loyalty and common purpose....I saw alot of that this season didnt you? WHen I think the 08 cowboys those are three terms that come to mind immediately for me.....or not...

and of course we went 13-3 and made the playoffs last year and wades career record is above 500 so we should be good...right?

Yea, I knew something was wrong when Stewy whinned like a little girl that he would not be comfortable with Capers on staff.

I was like, what the hell???

Stewy knew he was in over his head and didnt want his replacement already on staff.

In this order for DC:

1. Wade Phillips

2. Dom Capers

3. Romeo Crennel

Everyone, don't tell me it's impossible for Wade to step down and become DC. Jerry is clearly calling the shots on the coaching staff right now and the Jets are the only 3-4 defense vacincy available right now. He'd sure as heck take that $3 million here to be a defensive coordinator. If he didn't accept being the DC then he terminates his own employment with the team. No one else out there is going to pay him $3 million a season and there's not many opportunities out there anyways.

That's exactly what has transpired and will continue if Cupcake remains as HC. I'm not going to stand for this BS and sugar coating anymore. If we lose while this team plays its heart out all season with good game plans and adjustments also utilized then at least I'm proud we fought. But that is not the case here in both regards. Our team plays with no passion and never played equally effective on both sides of the ball during any of the games this year, with balanced talent on both sides. That's because our HC can't get everything working together and that's the job of a HC.

The evil Jerry mastermind puppet master certainly sounds good and has been getting ratings for the Dallas media lately I don't buy it.

Wade was a placeholder for Jason Garrett plain and simple. Jones knew Garrett wasn't ready --and still doesn't IMO-- so he is keeping Wade around. It especially makes sense why he has kept Wade around through all of this anyway.

The whole evil mastermind Jerry scenario belongs in Days of Our Lives not reality.

Does C also stand for Campo?
Yeah, that would be pretty stupid too. I honestly have no idea who he'd bring in, but honestly does it really even matter since there's likely no chance whatsoever that Wade's not going to be calling plays?
