Opinions on the Team Staying in Cali all week

Do you really think that grown men are such big babies that they can't be away from mommy for a week? Excuse me, but what is training camp? Unless they're sneaking broads in after hours & noone knows about it, aren't they also away from home?

C'mon, it's a week. These aren't 3rd-graders away from mommy & daddy for the first time.

Geez, the things people will find to bash Parcells about!

I don't necessarily understand the need to stay out there the whole time. I heard Aikman on The Ticket yesterday and he said it made no sense to him. He said you live in Dallas so it's usually a 3 hour plane ride to anywhere they go and the time change doesn't really affect the players much anyway. He said it's harder to go east than it is to go west. He felt like the distraction of being out of your routine, staying in a hotel, taking a bus to and from practice and being away from your family outweighed the difficulty of two straight west coast trips.

I remember several years back watching pre-game on ESPN. They interviewed players, coaches and doctors. They pretty much all agreed that making trips to play against west coast teams was more difficult than teams from the west coast coming east. For some reason it just seemed more taxing on the teams. Not just leading up to the game, but it seemed to effect the following weeks schedule. It certainly wasn't scientific, but it kind of stuck with me.

You know, you take any criticism of Parcells awfully personal. Do you really expect everyone to agree with every decision he makes? In the real world no less? People have opinions and some of them will disagree with Mr. Parcells, because quite frankly show me the video footage of him walking on water.

In other words...chill out a little bit.

There is no footage of it because the light eminating around Parcells was so blinding, no camera could pick up the images.

Good theory.

It never ceases to amaze me how upset some people get over other people's opinions.

Dude--take your own advice. I don't expect people to agree with everything he says or does--but *****ing about them staying a week on the West Coast?! Please. I mean, we haven't even beaten the weekly "why are we playing Bill's old guys" discussion to death yet. Much less even started a "why isn't Henson/Romo playing" thread. And we haven't even scratched the surface on whether Peerless Price should have played more last week!

What, Nors hasn't been on the board enough this week? Normally he gets attacked for his opinions. Sorry--I didn't realize I had to check my posts with you before I put them up.

Here's the bottom line...every move the team makes under this Head Coach or any other is going to be discussed and opinions on it are going to vary.

The support for Bill Parcells is overwhelming amongst the Cowboy nation as a whole. Are there some who don't like him? Yeah, there are. We had some who didn't like Tom Landry for crying out loud and the man was a saint.

Take a peak at this forum or any other 2 years after Parcells has retired and you're going to see the same open discussions. Some will like the idea. Some will hate it.

You like every decision the man makes, that's cool. Not everyone will. That's a fact of life. if you're looking for a mandated consenus...well this isn't the haystack to find that needle. Hate to break that to you.

As for me taking my own advice, I do. I defend the right to opinions I don't agree with. You know, like griping about the team staying an extra week in CA. The right to express opinions, even ones I find are silly is important to me. I may not agree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it provided it is within the Guidelines we want this forum to adhere to.

That isn't what I said and you know it.

Oh golly I dunno. I imagine it's alot like play calling. If a play works it's a good call, if not, it was dumb.

In this case if we go 2-0 peeps will say it was definitely the "right" thing to do. If we go 0-2 it was definitely the "wrong" thing to do. And if we go 1-1, I reckon it didnt matter.

Interesting tidbit on this from NFL Network, Parcells has done this in the past and has always come out 1-1, losing the second game every time.

I'm not opposed to it. I think it's a break from the norm and may keep the team loose especially on the heels of a tough loss like Monday nights game. Hopefully we don't go 1-1 on this excursion like Coach Parcells two other squads did when he stayed on the left coast for back to back games years ago. I believe I read that each time his team lost the second game.

I think its a heckuva idea. The players and coaches all get a chance to get away on a mini-vacation of sorts, and maybe even get a little strange putang during the off day. Oakland ought to be filing a grievance over this deal..........

Just dont think it is that big of a deal. Yes, I heard Troy on the Musers saying he didnt understand it, but I just dont see it having an adverse effect on the team.

I think they will man up and play no matter what. Now if we were already in/out of the playoffs cough.*.cough*.* new orleans game, then I that is another story.
