Opinions on Trigg

I think I heard if not for the character concerns he could've been drafted as high as the 3rd round and I can see the case for it. If he can at least be a half-decent blocker I'd rather have him over Schoon, who is no great blocker himself.

It appeared that Schotty didn’t want to throw down field much.

I believe that when asked about the lack of downfield throwing he suggested that it woukd be saved for after the Divisional Round.......nothing wrong with strategery

I'm not sure why Schoon or Leupke are around.

Both Schoon and Luepke both played 50% of special team snaps last season. Same for Spann-Ford, so I only see Trigg making the practice team.

If you are a backup TE, never mind 3rd TE, you must contribute significantly on special teams.

We are not keeping 4 TEs and Schoomaker plays on all ST teams and I don't think Trigg has played special teams ever so he needs to replace Schoon on ST if he wants to make the 53.

Trigg would have to be able to play FB and Special teams to make the roster.

I understand .... but I sometimes think this is overblown. there are a bunch of fringe NFL players. surely I can find someone who offers me more on offense & can still play ST's.

I have not seen him particularly shine on ST so I do not see that as a real factor

Yeah if he can’t realize exactly what’s at stake for him and how close he is, it’s a problem.

Not much, it’s pre season. He did as well as can be hoped for against other back ups and simple defenses.

Fine but for that kind of money, and/or having to expose someone to waivers that you want to keep?

I guess I’m just against guys that are kept around mostly for ST purposes. The Goodwin thing annoyed me. I even think the long snapper ought to be a backup center, even though I realize it’s been this way forever. I just don’t get it with the ST specialty thing, unless you’re a Bates or Tasker type.
