Neil Rackers easily made kicks from 52 and 47 yesterday, so now it's 68-for-72 (94.44 percent) against the Cowboys since Game 13 of 2002, with ZERO misses from inside 48 yards.

This year, Dallas' opponents are 13-for-13, including 4-for-4 from 50 yards or more. Against every other team, NFL kickers are only 24-for-41 (58.5 percent) from 50-plus this season.

Crazy stuff.

I actually thought Rackers was going to miss one against us.

Silly me.

Good news is the defense is forcing teams to hit long distant FG to score.

It's getting pretty ridiculous. Right when he lined up for the 52 yard kick I knew he was going to make it.

Haven't seen 'em shank one in a while.

Watch Cortez nail a 55 yard FG when we play Philly.

Worst part was, last week, right around the time Josh Brown wailing nailing another 50 yarder, Jason Elam shanked a 40 yd FG against the Giants giving them a chance to drive down for the game winning TD. We have kickers drilling long kicks on us left and right, and one of the best kickers in the league can't even put the Giants away.

This is very good. The law of average's is going to start causing misses.

This really is an alarming stat, Adam. How long has it been since we actually blocked a FG try against us?

Game 12 of 2002 -- right before the streak began. But we've blocked at least three extra points since then.

I just do not understand this. It is crazy.

I keep wainting for the law of averages to come into play, but nothing.

Rackers lines up from 52, I say this has to be it. Nope, right down the middle.

Ok, from 47, that is no gimme, this has to be it. Nope, right down the middle.

This is insane. All I can say is when it does happen, I really hope it is at a very good time.

This has to be some kind of all time record. I just can not imagine that another team has had kickers convert 68 of 72 kicks, ever!

O.K. I'm calling it . . . .

IF Cortez kicks against us, he WILL miss.

And hopefully it is the potential game winner he misses as well!

The streak ends, and we sweep Philly.

Unfortunately, I think Akers will be back before we play them.

So you mean that if the opposing kickers makes alot of kicks one season then a lot of them will miss the next. I'm sorry but that's just not the way statistics works.

That's what we statisticians call the Gambler's fallacy. A streak of misses to make up for all the made FGs is crazy-unlikely.

Keep in mind, one potential explanation here is that our red zone D has been pretty good. we might be giving up a ton of chip shots instead of touchdowns -- we may be allowing more than our share of FGs from inside the 40 because of that.

Adam, I respect your stats, and your insight. I have a question. Is there another team with similar stats against them during the same time frame? I know the comparison would be difficult. The 'boys play in a semi-indoor stadium, artificial turf, etc.... Just wondering if say the next closest team to our stats are also playing their games "indoors" with a solid D like the 'Boys. It would be interesting to see.

Are the 'Boys so bad? Is it due to our great D over the last few years, so that opposing teams go for 3- v- 6? How many of those field goals are @ Tex Stadium? Is there another team who has had a comparable D over that time frame, who plays half their games indoors? Just curious. Thanks for the info... :starspin

Nope. Of our opponents' 13 field goals this season, eight have been from at least 43 yards. Our opponents are 4-for-4 from 43 to 49 yards and 4-for-4 from 50-plus. Only five of their field goals have come from 39 yards or less. They haven't missed a single kick from inside 48 yards since 2002. Plenty of NFL kickers have shanked kicks from between 30 and 47 yards in the past three seasons -- just not against us.

Somebody needs to find the voodoo doll and destroy it. That's insane. I've never heard of anything like this for any team on any level of the game.
