With the loss of overshown, and no it's not the end of the world. We already use Kearse and Donovan Wilson in the box a lot, can they be our backup LBs if you want to call it that? If we do that, maybe Mukamu and Bell can get more reps at safety. We all know that if anyone can get creative out there, DQ (Dan Quinn) can make it happen, please give your thoughts?

Isiah Simmons S/LB
This is the way.
Perfect, Spot he is in! They don't know what to do it him. There moving him all over the place and there coaching is Ace

We need LBs taking on OL guys and filling holes on regular basis, especially in goal line, short yardage and red zone situations. The nickel packages that includes box safeties can only work to degree.

I see either a trade or McClay exploring what is scarcely remaining on street FA vet market (ala Barr, Rashad Evans)

I'm not impress with what I am seeing from Cox.
His game seems delayed at times. and he's waiting for the action to come to him, rather than getting
a jump ahead of the action. He's absorbing blocks instead of shredding blocks.
And does it seem like he's not sure who to cover at the snap of the ball ?

I could say he needs to be on the field more and play his way into game experience since
he's rarely been on the field since he's entered the NFL and a ACL recovery stretch.
But for a guy that is supposed to be a 2n round draft grade coming out of LSU, I'm not seeing
what's special about him.

Time for Cox to step up and see if he can live up to his hype from the draft.

Also what about Malik Jefferson, I know he was having some injury issues. But not aware of how serious they are.

Land, I know he is at DE, but I believe originally he was listed as a LB, or maybe I am thinking that was Wheat.

I think wheat is the lb but I swear I saw him pass rushing on the dL, who knows, i'm so confused lol. Jefferson could be ok

Land may be listed as a LB, but he's been solely an edge pass rusher in preseason games.

Jefferson is athlete with very suspect instincts, and durability maybe a concern.

Why would safeties need to be backup LBs?

There's only ever 2 on the field at a time. Doubtful that Wilson/Kearse is a more effective LBer than Cox/Harper.

Think they will either sign one via the waiver wire or sign a street fa at the position.

Though he has coverage issues, I do like the idea of Rashad Evans. He is a tackling machine and can help support the run and help with short yardages.

Cox, Jefferson, the Oklahoma State kid, and then we jump into the hybrid safties and giving Parsons some snaps at linebacker.

I'm not saying that i'm only mentioning their roles in packages in our defense

No we have mazi he's all the toughness we need!! lol

Why is Rashad a FA, hadn't even thought about him because I had no idea he was available, he is a stud LB and only 26 still.
What is going on with him?

Your irrational hatred for Mazi not withstanding, LB and DT are 2 separate positions, are they not?
lol your hatred for yourself is the issue, I was just joking! You homers are on the edge today!!!! lol

So much of a stud that nobody has picked him up, I wonder what the issue is

Wants paid, similar to Risner on the OL.

Also, most likely because of a passer rating against in coverage last year of 112.6."
