Options at slot corner

It will be interesting to find out what type of base coverage Eberflus will have the defense run. If they run a Tampa 2 style, it's critical to have a MLB that is adept in dropping back into coverage. I don't think that's ever been Murray's strength.

I want Samuel. But the team might think Carson can compete with Elam for that position.
Agreed. But the team likely views it as

CB 1 Diggs
CB 2 Elam
Slot Bland
Depth - Carson, Izzy, Butler, Goodwin

Butler coming off the ACL and Goodwin is special teams. So 1 body is likely here

FS - Hooker, SS - Wilson
Depth - Thomas, Bell

I think Elam is our third corner
I think this guy.......will compete for the starting slot CB. I keep hearing he's def not a fit for Eberflus zone scheme coz his strength is man coverage. So why bring him ..........IMO he's a potential replacement for Lewis

The dream-come-true scenario for the Cowboys is both Kaiir Elam and Caelon Carson turn into something. That allows them to bring Diggs back slowly and use Bland in the slot.

Only problem with this. It's a contract year for Bland and he is not going to want to play a harder position. He not going to want to play slot, he'll try to stay outside to help him look good for money's sake.

Slot CB's are woefully underpaid. They are more valuable than outside CB's, IMO.
