I could be wrong, but I got the impression that after all these years he doesn't have the drive he once had.
Could be wrong.

I think that conclusion as far as being a Cowboy is concerned is dead-on. Clearly something in Buffalo reignited the guy. Was the lack of interest to avoid the limelight in Dallas as a starting QB (if Romo went down)? I think he needs to turn in his man card if that was the reason.

You never know, he may want the opportunity to mentor a 2nd year QB.

All I know is a few years ago he took a clear backup job in Dallas with no hope of starting unless the QB got hurt. There were way better opportunities to start or compete to start elsewhere.
Don't know for sure, but I think the whole Tebow fiasco changed the guy.

But EJ was a rookie last year. The guy is just beginning.

While that is true, I followed EJ at FSU as well.

I don't think he will last long. He is on a shorter leash. Heck the bills fans have booed him consistently.

EJ Manuel could face competition at quarterback in Buffalo after all.

The Buffalo Bills are signing free-agent quarterback Kyle Orton, NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported Friday, per a source informed of the deal.

The journeyman quarterback was last with the Dallas Cowboys, who released him after he threatened to retire all offseason. There was always a sense Orton just wanted off the team, and this signing proves it.

He was retiring. Not from the NFL. Just from the Cowboys.

Hahahahahaha. You're like a sad caricature of a Jerry hater at this point.

Here's the mental gymnastics you had to put yourself through to try and make sense of blaming Jerry for this:

1) Believing that Jay Ratliff was going to suit up for us eventually in 2013, even though he was already getting paid for the entire 2013 season and had already sat out for half the year before we finally cut him.

2) Believing that the best course of action this season would've been to keep a backup QB who had zero interest in playing for the Cowboys and paying him his entire 2014 salary to boot.

Surely, nothing bad could come of that!

(Psst... cutting Orton means he keeps his signing bonus but does NOT earn his 2014 salary from the Cowboys. So you're dead wrong about that move not helping us financially. Football 101.)

Do yourself a favor and stick to the quote you were provided.

"Jerry's a doodee head! Everything's his fault!"

And you keep wasting both of our time trying to defend the indefensible.

Jerry Jones is now the sucker who pays players not to play.

"Need free money? Go see the crazy old man who drinks too much!"

He didn't want to play here. We could have fought with him tying up a roster spot for 3M dollars...or released him and kept churning the roster and keeping players we already have...never to think of him again.

You would have preferred the latter?

Frankly i'm glad we cut ties and moved on. It has an immaterial effect on our cap...it isn't a situation that happens a lot (besides Jay...who?)...and so people with an agenda are making it into a bigger deal than it is.

People like you.

And people like YOU try to defend the indefensible.

To make sense of nonsense in the blindness of fandom.

Your fandom may require you to turn your brain off, mine does not.

Jones has now let not ONE, but TWO players play him and get paid for services they did not provide.

All by simply throwing tantrums and withholding services.

And what did old man Jones do about it? Nothing! He gave both of them exactly what they wanted!

Money for nothin'!

Kyle was a highly paid player? He took up 2.4% of our cap. A cap we sit 9.5M dollars under.

Do you ever tire of being wrong in the name of your jihad?

He was the third highest paid backup QB in the NFL behind only Matt Moore and Matt Hasselbeck. Hence, "highly paid".

Perhaps you need to start asking yourself if you are becoming tired of your own "jihad" to protect Jerry Jones at all costs.

Kyle Orton has a better chance at possibly starting in Buffalo than most people realize.

EJ Manuel still is working on basic reads and has been staring down targets all throughout preseason. He got Sammy Watkins lit up because he stared him down from the snap of the ball.

That's like being the biggest kid on the short bus.

Look he didn't want to play here. Players have very little leverage. He exercised his. I am always pro player in these debates.

You make it sound like this happens all the time. Recency bias. Before Ratliff when was the last time a disgruntled player "won" against this front office?

Both Ratliff and Orton (presumably) are making less money today than they would be as Cowboys. Oh yeah...they "won" alright.

But hey never let facts get in the way of taking a shot at Jerry.

Why didn't we trade him to Buffalo last year? I and several others thought that would have been a good decision at the time.

EJ Manuel and Orton are the only two QBs on Buffalo's roster. A starter who was hurt for several games last year and a backup who hasn't taken a practice snap yet. Do the Bills have a 'real GM' calling the shots or has Bon Jovi already bought the team and decided to be 'Living on a Prayer?'

Bills willing to pay him $5M this year. Should have held onto him just for the chance of a trade.

A server of mine is a huge Bills fan, born and raised there. He is pretty excited at the thought of him taking over for E.J. He doesn't really care who starts as long as it isn't Manuel and he is pretty in-tune with the happenings of the team
