6 million dollar cap it vs a could have been 25 that's good!! Now get some more players with the money we just gained from Lamb's restructure and soon to be dak's
That’s been a big part of the problem Coogy…

They push money down the road but don’t use the cap space toward trying to get better.

Why put yourself in that spot if you’re not going to even attempt to take advantage?

Nothing here is scary at all. If there is a void year they can kick money into they should be able to manipulate the cap number as much as they need.

Also "$13m of the ’27 base is guaranteed for injury and becomes fully guaranteed on 5th day of ’27 league year" is very nice to hear. A lot of the time that guaranteed money kicks in if the player is on the roster a year in advance. It should mean they would have an out on his deal after year two for a fairly small cap hit if they dont restructure him.

I'm yet to see anything to suggest this isnt a very team friendly deal, and it shouldn't stop them from making other moves.

As much as I enjoy bashing Jerry/Stephen for dumb contracts I cant really do that here. This actually gives me some optimism for the start of free agency...lets see if they let me down.

I'm with ya as I'm actually scared to type it for fear of a jinx but this is an effectively written contract. As though Stephen had an out of body experience.

But now comes the big step like you say here...
"What are they gonna do to make the team better with the new money to spend?"

Seeing is believing for me until proven otherwise.
Fingers crossed.

Great point about the void years, so they a discount and flexibility with this deal. Gotta give it to CapBoy, this is a good deal, and like you say it's giving optimism for FA.

It is a good deal. BUT it seems clear that Osa also was willing to do it.I think he probably could have got a fair bit more in FA and chose not to.

What does everyone think, good or bad????

The deal itself looks very solid to me. We are signing him based on his pressure numbers and future projections. A lot of that will be how he is highlighted in Eberflus defense.

The question about restructures and making room in FA is still unanswered but this would be a good first step. I'm still holding out hope we are active, despite history.

How does Jerry and Stephen re-signing one of their own players give us any hope in free agency? If anything, it gives them less money to spend. This is a 'running in place' move. The Dallas Cowboys didn't get any better today.

I am going to be interested to see how this goes in the DL room.

I love Micah but he is not a consistent leader. Of course he has leadership skills but he was off honing his craft out of town away from his teammates last training season. I respect his reasoning but you cannot lead if you are not there.

DLaw is either gone or significantly diminished on return.

Big money contracts are a significant power dynamic in NFL locker rooms. Osa has an opportunity here to lead the room if he wants it.

Im guessing Micah signs in the next couple weeks. They have already started negotiations and signing him frees money

Well then you're clueless.

You'd be hard pressed to get less bang for your buck than to pay Osa Odighizuwa 20 million a year.

It is a complete waste of money. He gives you nothing but mediocrity. In actual production and not feelings.

Now I'm a fan of the deal. I can get behind this. We saved a lot of cap by doing this.

It's pretty obvious. Tell us.

Come on, you have got to be smarter than that.

I’m somewhat glad to see the Odighizhua signed and the contract as constructed appears to have some good plug ins for an early out if needed, void years, bonus money, etc. They still need a lot more on the DL to be a decent run stopping D.

I can only hope the Jones boys learned something from the disaster they created last year by sitting on their hands during the critical off-season months.

Maybe they will keep doing pro-active moves so they can clear cap space for some other roster overhauls. Because this team still has a loooooong way to go to get better. But this is a good step.

Like everything these guys do, I will believe something is good literally when it happens. Not before.
