I wonder why they risked the lives of servicemen instead of dropping a daisy cutter on the mansion or sending a cruise missile in. Maybe their intent was to take him alive.

Wonder how his whereabouts got leaked.

They said they were eyeballing a couple couriers that were going in and out. The house itself was like 8-10X bigger than anything around it. Also, they said it was a $1 Million place and it didn't have electricity or internet or something like that.

Is there a good account somewhere of how it went down?

Chopper raid. Navy SEALS.

I can't wait until the story of the raid comes out. What it must have been like for those SEALS to know they were the ones given the opportunity to take him out.

That, or they wanted indisputable evidence in the event he was killed.

I think they wanted the body. Wanted to confirm via DNA and digging through the rubble probably wasn't going to happen. Doubt Pakistan would have just invited the US to go scrounging for bone fragments after wiping out a whole city block.

Just reports that they went in with a small group and engaged in a firefight.

CNN just reported the US team was around and inside the compound for like 40 minutes before they went in.

Helicopters involved, one went down due to mechanical error and the US flattened the thing before heading out.

Killed 2 couriers and one of his sons. I guess a woman was also killed because she was being used and a shield and caught some fire.

I bet Obama was jammin 'Hit Em Up' by Pac while he ordered the hit from his throne.
Earlier this evening, President Obama called to inform me that American forces killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of the al Qaeda network that attacked America on September 11, 2001. I congratulated him and the men and women of our military and intelligence communities who devoted their lives to this mission. They have our everlasting gratitude. This momentous achievement marks a victory for America, for people who seek peace around the world, and for all those who lost loved ones on September 11, 2001. The fight against terror goes on, but tonight America has sent an unmistakable message: No matter how long it takes, justice will be done.-George W. Bush

Wow, a large crowd is currently gathered outside of the White House in celebration..
Gatherings also taking place at Ground Zero. I am sure there is both celebration and tears of joy. I wish I was there.
