Ugh, that sucked.

I wanted De La Hoya to win badly, but Mayweather definitely tooled him. How the hell that first judge gave the fight to Oscar, I will never know.

Anyways, I just can't stand the way that Mayweather fights. He has pillows for hands, but knows that he is too quick to take much, if any, punishment. That basically makes him fight not to lose. I can't really blame him as that style plays perfectly into his strengths, but it makes for a pretty lame fight.

Overall, the fight that was supposed to save boxing just reminded me why I love MMA much, much more.

Split decision was okay. Disappointing fight. Whatever happened to the saying you have to go out there and clearly beat the champ?

If De La Hoya hadn't of pushed the action there wouldn't have been none. Mayweather's style=snoozeville. It was interesting that Floyd Sr. thought De La Hoya won the fight. Anyway, boxing is dead. What big names are out there now that De La Hoya is fading? Who's going to take over the mantle.

Long live MMA!

like emanuel stewart and floyds dad both said. if u go by the point system oscar won. i dont see how u can give the fight to a fighter who ran for 8 round, and threw half the punches of the other fighter.

even when mayweather was throwing punches, he was hitting oscars gloves. as it was stated all thru the first 8 rounds.

granted he came alive from 9th rd to the 11th and owned oscar with the speed. but u dont win a fight by fighting 3 rounds and running 8. that 12 was a even rd i think.

at the least i think oscar got a draw. but he won. floyds face when they announced that last 115-113 said it all. he didnt expect it.

not at all. mayweather landed more shots and threw less. if you go by aggression oscar did, but he didn't land anything

Please stop crying Floyd dismantled that punk in the ring, he landed the harder shots and made the "golden girl" look awful in the ring. Those last second flurries at the end of rounds didn't do anything to hurt Floyd. Mayweather landed 132 power punches to "golden girl's" 82 enough said.

It's called drawing interest in the rematch.

After the Tyson-Holyfield ear biting match I will never buy another PPV.

Yep, that is exactly what that split decision was and that is one of the reasons that boxing continues to lose interest. How can anyone be serious about any sport where you question the outcome and validity of the contest. Until something is done so there is ONE belt per weight class and the sport is regulated so a fan can feel comfortable that the fix isnt in it will continue to lose popularity. People may get excited occassionally to watch big matchups but that will be about it.

This is the first fight I purchased since the bite. That pissed me off to spend $50 for Tyson to pull that crap.

That is one of the draws of MMA for me, there is usually one decisive winner as most fights end with a tap out of KO. Unlike boxing, Ive yet to see someone get dominated and win the fight.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This wasnt an amatuer fight where the point system is determined by activity and the number of punches landed. 90% of the shots Oscar threw were off balance and had nothing behind them. He threw 25% more punches and landed 20% less that tells the whole story. Mayweather controlled the fight with his quickness and defensive prowess.

people need to stop using compubox like it's the bible. it's two nerdy dude's sitting upstairs deciding what's a power punch and whats landed.

it's clear to anyone who used their eyes, de la hoya was the aggressor, the only two clear rounds that were definitely Mayweather's were the 9th and 10th rounds, when De La Hoya wasn't active, besides that every round was very debatable, and the 11th and 12th rounds were definitely Oscar's.

ill point out too, exactly what emanuel stewart was trying to dig into ledermans head. mayweather while making oscar miss alot, wasnt hitting anything but oscars gloves.

I didnt need compubox to tell me Mayweather was winning most of the rounds. I agreed with Lederman's score card on every round. Usually I think he is full of it but I agreed with his scoring 100%. Oscar was throwing the most ridicilous round punches Ive ever seen him throw, he had nothing on mostg of them. Throwing a bunch of punches that hit nothing but air doesnt give you the round. Mayweather's punches were crisper, faster, harder and much more accurate.

Floyd pounded Mayweather the entire fight,he made him miss practically everything, cracked him with a god few great shots, was more accurate, classier and a better fighter in general. Floyd proved how good he was, he is naturally a super-featherweight and he beat down a natural super-welterweight, Floyd didn't let the extra weight advantage be put to use - he was great.

:lmao: EXACTLY, it's obvious people do NOT know boxing.... Those weak flurries at the end of rounds didn't amount to ANYTHING.

Man I'm glad there's some real boxing enthusiasts on here who knows the sport. De La Hoya's little flurries didn't bother Floyd and those so called body shots made Floyd laugh in the ring. Floyd tagged his face good, evident in the interviews after the fight....

^that's what I was saying too, Floyd was dodging, parrying and ducking every punch that De La Hoya threw at him in those little flurries. Floyd hit De La Hoya cleanly with a lot of punches and he rocked De La Hoya (who had close to a stone of a weight advantage when the fight started) in round 5 and 11. Floyd gave a master-class in boxing the other night, boxing is the art of hit and not get hit which Floyd done to perfection the other night, the Pretty Boy waxed the Golden Girl.
