OT bench reps

Wow I can only do 110 and I am a lineman. Oh boy...

Do what hoss said. Train chest heavy with weights 1-2x a week, then 3 days a week do 4-5 sets of pushups and dips. I went from benching 165 max at 155 to 215 at 165 in about 4 months. I worked out every day but sunday.

As a O-Line he needs to work on legs and core more then chest...........like

Squats, Hamstring curls, Deadlift, clean and jerk, and abbs

Thank you. I told him this same stuff via PMs. When I started doing dips I got addicted to it. I was cranking out hundreds of them every day. I could do 75 at a time for a while and my max bench exploded.

Start doing a lot of dips. Works more muscle groups than any other exercise. Crank them out until you can't go any more. Take a break and keep doing it. You'll be shocked at how fast your max bench numbers come up. Use your body's weight as your tool. Pull ups, pushups, and dips are all fantastic.

Tyron Smith doesn't have arms. Those are wings. 29 reps with long arms like that? Forget about it, he's got the highest likelihood of being a Cowboy of any player on the board.

This. Dips did more for my bench numbers in three months than weights did in three years. Amazing how much stronger you feel after just a few weeks.

Im gonna start boxing and I want 2 get in boxing shape, all I know is football program workouts, any 1 know good workouts for boxing plz pm some information it would be much appreciated

This sounds good to me. Like many here, I've been intrigued by this guy but leary because of the lack of size and possibly strength. I have not seen him play much, but if he is a top player with great athleticism from a bigtime program one has to seriously consider him. He's a 20 year old who can play (not some Bruce Campbell workout warrior) with great feet, an enormous wingspan, over 300 pounds, and strong? That sounds like a potential great tackle in the NFL to me.

When we beat the Eagles, one of my fears was that we would drop too far (possibly to 12ish) to get the best player at a position. Fortunately, we only dropped a few spots to nine. The way things are unfolding, it looks like we have a good chance to take the top OT in the draft. A player with almost limitless potential. That's the kind of talent you want with a top 10 pick. I won't be too excited with the 3rd ranked 3-4 DE. I know one of those guys could help us but it reminds me of 1998. I believe we had the 8th pick and we took Ellis. He turned out to be a good player. Not special, but good. The thing that upset me was that he was like the 3rd or 4th ranked DE in that draft (behind Wadsworth and Wistrom I believe). Now Ellis ended up having a better career than both guys ahead of him so it's not the end of the world if you don't get the "top guy". But we had a chance at another top guy that we passed on unfortunately (Moss). My point is that we don't often get top 10 picks so when we do it's nice to have a shot at the best guy at a position that also fills a need.

Now that the physical questions about Smith have been addressed, everyone and his brother will be looking at his game tape. THAT will decided where he goes. Looking like close to top 10 now. He has not played that long, and mostly at RT, so that is about the only down side you can find on him.

LT Tyron Smith
LG Danny Watkins/Jason Pinkston
C Stefan Wisniewski
RG Ben Ijalana
RT Derek Sherrod

One can dream...

1. Tyron Smith
2. Stefan Wisniewski
3. Jason Pinkston

I love this list. Dream indeed. But I don't like Wisniewski much. Can't explain it really, but I don't think he'll pan out. And I haven't seen enough Pinkston to say anything.

Watkins or Ijalana falling to our 2nd round pick would be great. Even Cannon if they feel they can trust his weight stability.

Wisniewski has the best technique in the draft and also better than his uncle Steve who was the best guard in the nfl during the 90s.

its not all about technique. Its about being a real player and I agree that this generation Wisniewski just does not seem to be as good a player.

I watched a few of his games and I wasn`t that impressed. He really didn`t impress in the Bama game. He has no push off the LOS . He may be better suited for center.

Some players I just do not see it with. Wis, Prince, DeMarco Murray, Costanzo and plenty of others that I just don't see much of a future for. They may have great bodies and/or great technique, but what I've see leads me to think they'll wash out in a few years.

But I'm not much of a scout so even I don't put much stock in what I think. Still think it though.

Realtick didn't he do more then 700 at 1 of the many probowls some years later?

IIRC his max was close to 800lbs

Best OL in Cowboy`s history. Allen and pre-accident E. Williams are two of the best that ever played the game.

Unfortunately I think it was the bench press that ended up hurting Larry Allen's career. He got too carried away with benching 800 instead of keeping his body as a whole in peak condition. His legs started going on him in the later years. Parcells tried to get him to do it right and Larry rebelled and worked on his own.

As dominating as Larry was, had BigE not had that accident I believe he would be the one thought as being the best ever Cowboy OL. What he did to Reggie White was so amazing to watch.

On first glance none of these numbers are really impressive but when you match them with Smith's measurables that is pretty astounding. This kid is a lock for the top 10 now.

Honestly, I don't like drafting linemen that high, but this kid has potential franchise cornerstone written all over him. I take him at 9 and plug him in day one. Even with growing pains he can't be worse than Columbo.

LOL, this post kinda shows how day to day this thing is.

Smith is a physical freak but he is also an unproven LT and has injury concerns.
