Unintended tweet sparks rumors of Moss-to-Minny move

Posted by Mike Florio on October 5, 2010 7:31 PM ET
Bill Simmons of ESPN is reporting, sort of, the existence of rumors regarding a trade that would send receiver Randy Moss from the Patriots back to the Vikings.

Wow.

Making the situation even more intriguing is the fact that Simmons inadvertently put the information on his Twitter page at a time that he was intending to send out the information as a direct message only.

Let the chase begin.

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reports the Vikings are "very close" to acquiring Randy Moss from the Patriots.

How's that for a shocker? Multiple reports are now emerging to corroborate this initial report as well as a Twitter post by ESPN's Bill Simmons. The deal can't be finalized until the Vikings work out a new contract for Moss, which Glazer says the sides are currently addressing. Brett Favre has long pined for deep threat Moss as a teammate. It looks like he's going to get his wish, putting to rest speculation that he could walk away later this season if the Vikes don't turn it around. Oct. 5 - 7:56 pm et

Whatever problems we might have, I'm glad we don't sell out to one individual like the Vikes have.

Especially a grandpa who still thinks he's 25.

Pats fans should be grinning ear to ear. I'm sure the Vikings are about to be bent over for a 33 year old receiver.

interesting.... will this make the vikings a legit contender once again? or is he not a threat like he used to be?

Not sure that it matters. Age looks to have caught to Favre ... finally.

Unless he ups his HGH dosage.

Yup. His best days are gone. Patriots see the dropoff and know when to pull the trigger before it becomes a drastic dropoff.

It showed in his body language last night. He looked like he didn't care about the game...zero catches and all.

That would make the Vikings scary again.

I've watched a couple of their games. Favre has been spending a lot of time on his back. Not sure having Moss would help that situation.

Source: Vikings, Moss haven't started talking terms yet

Bill Simmons of ESPN perked up a slow Tuesday night by accidentally tweeting the existence of a rumor that the Patriots could be trading receiver Randy Moss to the Vikings. Jay Glazer of FOX has since reported that, indeed, the two sides are talking.

But Glazer points out that the deal hinges on the Vikings and Moss working out a new contract.

Per a league source, that part of the process has not yet commenced.
