Michigan does not deserve to play OSU again. They played a great game today. The gave OSU a good challenge. Effectively, they gave them their best shot. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough.
That's my point. They gave it their best and it wasn't enough. And there is nothing that will happen between now and early Jan. that will make Michigan a better team.
So why watch them lose again? Give another team a shot at beating OSU. Either the USC/ND winner or the SEC champ. The only way Michigan would deserve a second chance is if USC loses to ND and neither Arkansas or Florida looks very good in the next few weeks.
Otherwise, one of thoes other teams deserves the opportunity to play OSU.
Now what you saw today and what you will see in the coming weeks is as close to a playoff as you can imagine in college football.
Ideally, instead of OSU vs. Mich and ND vs USC, it probably should have been (1) OSU vs. (4) ND and (3)USC vs. (2) Mich. Then the winner of those two games would play in the championship game. However, it didn't work out that way, but it's as close as you could have gotten.
Imagine if Michigan plays OSU again and wins. Then you have USC not only winning out, but convincingly beating the SEC champ in the rose bowl. Do you think Michigan should win it outright in that case?
Shouldn't OSU get consideration even though they just lost?
After all, they had already beaten Michigan earlier in the year.
Shouldn't USC get consideration since they had the toughest schedule out of all of those teams and ended up with the same record as Mich. and OSU?
On the other hand, if USC wins out and then beats OSU, they would be closer to an undisputed champ. Mich, ND, FLA and Arkansas would not have a leg to stand on.
* They would have already beaten ND and Arkansas
* Michigan had their chance at OSU and couldn't beat them
* Florida just doesn't look very good, even in their wins
Given that type of outcome, it seems that sending Michigan to Arizona to play OSU doesn't make a lot of sense, especially if a victory for them would not provide enough of an argument to give them the national title.
