Who deserved #2 then?

USC lost to OREGON STATE.

ND got demolished by Michigan.

Florida just arent very good.

I am eager to see who you think deservesd #2

Michigan, only a replay of today's game will be good enough for the national title, rest of the teams suck.

Why isn't Boise State being mentioned in this discussion? They are the only undefeated team left other than Ohio State. Don't tell me because they are in the WAC. They beat the team that beat USC. I would think that they deserve it more than USC does?

You can't make this game mean zilch by simply replaying it.

How's that fair to Ohio St.

April fools Buckeye fans the 1st one meant nothing it's the rematch that's for all the marbles ... um no.

Until they adopt a playoff system (which they probably never will) college football will always remain a sport that amuses me buy one I'm not truly in love with.

Pity ... but I just can't get past not knowing for sure who the true champion is every year.

The fact that the BCS is forcing us to have this conversation is the real problem here.

That's why I quit watching college ball years ago and will not be watching it anymore. NCAA sucks. BCS sucks. JMO.

I would rather not watch football than to watch college football or any other NCAA activity.

Michigan does not deserve to play OSU again. They played a great game today. The gave OSU a good challenge. Effectively, they gave them their best shot. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough.

That's my point. They gave it their best and it wasn't enough. And there is nothing that will happen between now and early Jan. that will make Michigan a better team.

So why watch them lose again? Give another team a shot at beating OSU. Either the USC/ND winner or the SEC champ. The only way Michigan would deserve a second chance is if USC loses to ND and neither Arkansas or Florida looks very good in the next few weeks.

Otherwise, one of thoes other teams deserves the opportunity to play OSU.

Now what you saw today and what you will see in the coming weeks is as close to a playoff as you can imagine in college football.

Ideally, instead of OSU vs. Mich and ND vs USC, it probably should have been (1) OSU vs. (4) ND and (3)USC vs. (2) Mich. Then the winner of those two games would play in the championship game. However, it didn't work out that way, but it's as close as you could have gotten.

Imagine if Michigan plays OSU again and wins. Then you have USC not only winning out, but convincingly beating the SEC champ in the rose bowl. Do you think Michigan should win it outright in that case?

Shouldn't OSU get consideration even though they just lost?

After all, they had already beaten Michigan earlier in the year.

Shouldn't USC get consideration since they had the toughest schedule out of all of those teams and ended up with the same record as Mich. and OSU?

On the other hand, if USC wins out and then beats OSU, they would be closer to an undisputed champ. Mich, ND, FLA and Arkansas would not have a leg to stand on.

* They would have already beaten ND and Arkansas
* Michigan had their chance at OSU and couldn't beat them
* Florida just doesn't look very good, even in their wins

Given that type of outcome, it seems that sending Michigan to Arizona to play OSU doesn't make a lot of sense, especially if a victory for them would not provide enough of an argument to give them the national title.

Everything you just said supports the argument for a playoff system for college football. On any given Saturday in college football any team can win as far as the top teams are concerned. If you took the Michigan and OSU teams that played today and had them play on a neutral field 10 times, each team would probably win 5 games each. I'm sick and tired of teams having to run the table for the entire season to have a shot at a national title. Take the 10 best teams in the country, put them in a playoff, and let the championship be earned on the football field.

The BCS rankings are the result of politics and petty circumstances that affect teams throughout the season.

Look at Texas, who lost to #1 OSU and got upset by Kansas State because they lost their starting quarterback.

Look at Arkansas. They're a really good 9-1 football team but because of a week 1 beatdown they suffered to USC they won't even be considered for the championship game.

Look at USC, a good football team that lost to unranked Oregon State yet they're ranked #4.

Look at Notre Dame, an overrated team(in my opinion) that beats up on the bad teams, yet got their ***** kicked all over the field by Michigan and had to pull off a miracle comeback to beat Michigan State, which is a team that went 4-8 for the season. Yet they're still ranked #6.

My point is, there are a lot of good teams in college football but because of 1 or 2 incidents that occured during the season they don't get a shot to compete for a national title. A playoff system would fix all of this. What football fan wouldn't want to see the top 10 teams in the country battling it out over a month for the national championship?

I would love for USC to get shafted this year. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the west coast mediots searching for any reason to put USC in the national champ game.

The PAC-10 is not the same caliber as other conferences in the country.

NCAA could easily have a playoff system. I think people woudl watch too.

Cut out the games against D1-AA teams. Cut out the crap games. Cut each team down to 9 games. Beating HORRIBLE teams to fulfil the 11 games you have to play don't mean anything to how good you are. It won't happen. But it should.

Everyone watches NCAA tournament. Make the Football as good please.

Without the turnovers OSU beats Michigan by at least 2 tds and probably 3. OSU was clearly the better team.

As a ND fan I want them in the big game.IF USC wins then they should go. If Theylose and either FLA or Arky win out they should go. If they both lose and ND wins at USC then ND should go.

I think a rematch would suck BUT!.....

considering the game was so close and exciting, a rematch on a NEUTRAL field could have merit.
If USC loses to ND then USC is obviously eliminated but ND has to be also since Michigan dominated them utterly and completely
Florida would have a legit gripe but Arkansas lost to USC by like 30.

As EVERY year, nothing works unless there's a playoff, its so frustrating

Nice try, Billy B., but it will never happen because there are a half dozen or so multimillionaires who stand to gain millions more from the existing bowl games and the NCAA thinks they outnumber and are more important than the hundred million os so college football fans and so they deliberately favor the half dozen over the hundred million. That's why I will not be watching any NCAA activity of any kind; I refuse to participate in this sham . I would watch high school ball until the NCAA takes over that, too, but I will have nothing to do with the NCAA.

I'm not pissed, I just refuse to care at all or to allow them to dictate anything at all to me.

Yeah, I'm a stubborn old som'bish but I ain't gonna be used as kindling for their fire, I'd rather sit out in the cold and do something else; anything else, but I ain't givin' in to them bastids.

By the way, I was an avid college football fan for many years but the many absurd things the NCAA has done have turned me off.

It doesn't matter what WE want....it's what the NCAA wants. They want ratings...bottom line. I wouldn't be surprised to see a re-match.

the ratings will go thru the roof.....the marketing will be relentless and you wont be able to watch TV without hearing about it....TV people want it the fans will want anew team....USC...or watch for ND to beat USC and slip in

Its all about marketing and dollars....

There is NO other team in the Nation that deserves a title shot more than Michigan. Those were clearly the two best teams in the nation. Florida? No thanks. USC? Please, I'll vomit. USC shouldn't even be top 10. Arkansas? There's a stretch. Notre Dame (my squad)? Nope.

Michigan lost by 3 points in one of the biggest games in the rivalries history...at Columbus. You don't think that hostile crowd had some influence on the game? You're crazy. That's funny, doesn't vegas usually give three point for HFA? You take those three away...you've got yourself a tie at a nuetral site. Now, I realize this is pure postulation, but think about it.

I'm not particularly a fan of either of these teams...but I am a fan of college football. These two need the rematch.

The PAC-10 is not the same caliber as other conferences in the country.

Like the Big 12, where Texas is the only top 15 team? And the team winning the north division lost to USC by 18 points.

Or the SEC, where the team that will be going to the championship game lost to USC by 30 points... and the other team in that game is a joke?

Or the Big 10, where the top 2 teams are good, but have 1 other ranked team... Wisconsin.

Or the Big East?? Don't make me laugh...

All conferences have their strengths, and their weaknesses. That conference you say is not the "same caliber" won or shared two of the last three national championships.

SC may not be the best team in the country, but if they beat ND, they'll have beaten 4 ranked teams AND Arkansas who is now Top 10 (AT ARKANSAS!!). You'd be hard pressed to find a team with that type of resume.

Florida coach Urban Meyer said Sunday a rematch between Michigan and Ohio State would be cause for immediate change to the BCS.

"If that does happen, all the [university] presidents need to get together immediately and put together a playoff system," he said. "I mean like now, January or whenever to get that done."

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/news/story?id=2668566

Im with Meyer here.

Michigan lost...step aside...and let another team have a shot at Ohio State...you had your chance...

A rematch means the first game meant nothing. Wrong way to go.
early season losses by Arky and ND should not count against them- early season losses in the past were just shrugged off. Its how you play in November that matters- not september. If USC wins out they should go. If they do not then if ARky or Florida wins out one of them should go. If ND wins and arky and Florida lose then ND should go. A rematch is wrong wrong wrong. Besides- if OSU does not have those to bad snaps for fumbles they win by at least 2 tds. They pretty much controled that game- it was NOT as close a contest as the score showed.

I hate USC, but they deserve to get a Crack at Michigan and so does Arkansas or Florida if they win out.

Again, Big Blue..you had your shot at the big one...and it is time to get ready for a non-BCS Title Game.

And I agree...in my mind I saw clearly who was the better team out of Michigan and OSU.
