on the cheap I think I might sign him. Just a 1 year deal.Jason Peters? I have never understood why this guy gets so much love from the media. He's a big man and can run block. But, HE SUCKS as a pass blocker and he can't stay healthy, never has.
I would look elsewhere if at all possible. But if we had to sign him, as a 1 year back up that I pray never sees the field, ok.on the cheap I think I might sign him. Just a 1 year deal.
I'm willing to bet that you can block better than Solder. He was flat out horrible the last few years. Peters is an injury waiting to happen...and the wait isn't long.
I'd say zero chance we trade for Wynn. He is making over $10M this year on a 5th year option and looks to be losing his starting RT spot
Fisher is IMO the one that stands out in that group. I'd be willing to bet a contract that last year's performance was due to health after the achilles injury. I think he still has the ability to start. But, I'm not sure he signs a one year prove it deal to be a backup because it doesn't let him prove his worth. Let him fight it out with Steele. Best case scenario for us is Steele beats him out anyway and we have a ST to boot
I have been concerned for weeks. We the fans are worried going into the season about who will be the backup tackle, the swing tackle.
I say that player is not on the team. The coaches are trying to give Ball every opportunity to win the job. But when the preseason is over and final evaluations are made, I believe the team will sign a veteran free agent tackle to handle the job.
There was an article in BTB listing 6 players who might fit the bill. They were
Ty Nsehke
Nate Solder
Marcus Cannon
Eric Fisher
Bryan Bulaga
Jason Peters
I think the first two are the worst options. If Dallas liked Nsehke, they would have kept him. With Solder, I believe he is shot and has nothing left in the tank.
The other four are all viable options. I would be ok with any of them being the swing tackle week one. My choice would be Peters, and he's 40 years old. But last year he played well enough that he could be trusted with backup duties.
What are your thoughts? Do you have any other player suggestions?
