Jason Peters? I have never understood why this guy gets so much love from the media. He's a big man and can run block. But, HE SUCKS as a pass blocker and he can't stay healthy, never has.

on the cheap I think I might sign him. Just a 1 year deal.

I would look elsewhere if at all possible. But if we had to sign him, as a 1 year back up that I pray never sees the field, ok.

This is premature whining about something that we don't know is a problem. People that let their anxiety over players control their thoughts are making this argument while failing to temper their feelings with faith in our stars. Freaking out over a backup is what they are doing. No Thanks.

Older veterans not in camp always give me worry. Especially older ones. You also aren't going to see many good tackles cut. May not be much better than we already have...although that may not be tough to beat. This really should have been addressed in the offseason. You have two guys who have never played an NFL game prior to camp competing for that spot. I have no idea why you would hedge your bets there...especially when your starter has also missed games.

This and the lack of big play WRs could really drag the season down.

I'm willing to bet that you can block better than Solder. He was flat out horrible the last few years. Peters is an injury waiting to happen...and the wait isn't long.

Yep, Solder is a definite no. Performance not even adequate backup at this stage.

I'd say zero chance we trade for Wynn. He is making over $10M this year on a 5th year option and looks to be losing his starting RT spot

Fisher is IMO the one that stands out in that group. I'd be willing to bet a contract that last year's performance was due to health after the achilles injury. I think he still has the ability to start. But, I'm not sure he signs a one year prove it deal to be a backup because it doesn't let him prove his worth. Let him fight it out with Steele. Best case scenario for us is Steele beats him out anyway and we have a ST to boot

Yep, Fisher caught my eye as well for all of your above stated reasons.
Its all about McClay researching all of his injury history and then Jerry signing off on what his risk/reward outcome could be.

We the fans are worried going into the season about who will be the backup tackle, the swing tackle.

I say that player is not on the team. The coaches are trying to give Ball every opportunity to win the job. But when the preseason is over and final evaluations are made, I believe the team will sign a veteran free agent tackle to handle the job.

There was an article in BTB listing 6 players who might fit the bill. They were

Ty Nsehke
Nate Solder
Marcus Cannon
Eric Fisher
Bryan Bulaga
Jason Peters

I think the first two are the worst options. If Dallas liked Nsehke, they would have kept him. With Solder, I believe he is shot and has nothing left in the tank.

The other four are all viable options. I would be ok with any of them being the swing tackle week one. My choice would be Peters, and he's 40 years old. But last year he played well enough that he could be trusted with backup duties.

What are your thoughts? Do you have any other player suggestions?
I have been concerned for weeks.
The front office seems to have there heads in the sand.
Once Tyrone goes down and Dak is running for his life, maybe they will take notice?

Fisher or Peters for me, but I doubt Peters signs here.
